If you have never sent a letter to any official organization before in your
life, this is the time to do it. We were told that the decision will be
heavily based on the number of public letters they receive. We need to show
our support. If you don't have time, all you need to do is write 2
sentences. The first sentence should say that you support granting
Al-Jazeera the license to broadcast in Canada. The second sentence should
explain why (you can copy and paste one or several of the reasons mentioned
below). If you have time, please write a paragraph or two showing your
support.

This is very easy, it can't get any easier yet what is at stake is huge for
all of us. Write a letter (2 sentences) on your behalf, your mother, your
father, your sister, your brother, your neighbour. Again, we know the
decision will be made based on numbers. There are 500,000 Arabs and/or one
million Muslim in Canada. I would hate to think that when given a chance we
failed to utilize our right and let special interest groups take charge.

The Canadian Radio and Television Corporation (CRTC) is now accepting
submissions on Al-Jazeera's application to broadcast on the Digital Network
in Canada.  The Canadian Arab Federation is encouraging its members and
friends to contact the CRTC and voice their support for Al-Jazeera.  Your
submission may be as short as a two-line e-mail.

This public process will determine whether Al-Jazeera will be available to
Canadian viewers, so it is essential to send your support by August 11,
2003, citing Public Notice CRTC 2003-36.  The Canadian Jewish Congress and
B'nai Brith Canada are strongly opposed to Al-Jazeera being broadcast in
Canada.

You may choose to include one or more of the following points in your
submission:

Al-Jazeera is a independent, democratic and widely respected media outlet in
the Arab world that seeks to represent all points of view
It is important for Canadian Arabs and Muslims (a population of over one
million) to hear news and debates from the Arab and Muslim worlds without
North American filters
Accessing Al-Jazeera in Canada provides a much needed link between Canada
and the Arab world, which works to decrease stereotypes about Arabs and
facilitate intercultural understanding
Broadcasting Al-Jazeera in Canada affirms our country's commitment to
freedom of speech and multiculturalismTo see a good reason of why you should
