Re: CBC reacts with attack on NO GAMES 2010 Coalition to hide the
evidence of their own conflicts of interest.

CBC released a recent report highlighting alleged "ethical" issues 
surrounding NO GAMES 2010 spokesperson Chris Shaw.  The CBC report
observed that Dr. Chris Shaw used his office at the Research Pavilion
to conduct his NO GAMES 2010 activities.

The timing of the CBC report was of great interest, having occurred
following Dr. Shaw's comments on CBC's ‘The Current’ [Thursday July
3rd] regarding CBC chair Carole Taylor and her ties to companies
connected to Vancouver Bid Corp Directors.

What the CBC knew but did not report:

- Dr. Shaw never associated the activity with either UBC or VGH;
- VGH administration was aware of this activity and had given
permission as long as it did not violate the above;
- NO GAMES 2010 COALITION activities were conducted by Dr. Shaw on his
own time using facilities under the sole control of his laboratory.

CBC, under Chairperson Carole Taylor, has continued to evade the true
issues by attempting to instigate a smear campaign.

The questions that remain are:

- Why did CBC not report the conflict of interest allegations being
made in Prague about Gerhard Heiberg and reported in the European and
US media?
- Why has Chairperson Carole Taylor not disclosed her ties to members
of the Vancouver Bid Corp?

NO GAMES 2010 believes that CBC still has much to hide.  Smear tactics
do not address the questions raised.
