UBC Teaching Assistants CUPE local 2278 and other
locals (116 & 2950) are all currently in mediation
with the university. Administration officials have
been stalling for months, treating the lowest paid
workers on campus with contempt, disrespect and with a
lack of fairness. Come on up to show the UBC
president, Martha Piper, that we support workers in
British Columbia! Martha just received a 63% wage
increase to $350,000 per year with an extra $50,000
for good behavior! Keep solidarity alive, come support
exploited workers who need your help! Come show Martha
that Vancouver is watching!
Come have...
Breakfast at Martha's!
When: This Thursday, January 16th
6:30 - 8:30 a.m. (drop by anytime)
Where: Martha's Mansion at UBC
Adjacent to Museum of Anthropology parking lot
(Go to parking lot and follow the trail of crumbs!)
Occasion: Send a wake up call to UBC!
UBC gave President Martha Piper a big, fat wage
increase, but it's demanding CUPE workers accept wage
freezes, roll-backs & tuition fee hikes. The CUPE
teaching assistants, support staff, trade and
maintenance workers want fair treatment.
Menu: Assortment of speakers
Free bagels and coffee provided by CUPE
Gruel, goose eggs and cake crumbs compliments of UBC
Attire: Work / serf clothes
Join us: Bring your favourite noise maker
Everyone is welcome.
Organized by CUPE Locals 2278, 116 and 2950.
...............................................
If you were wondering about the 6:30 start, this is to
show we are ready
to wake up the campus (plus members of the other
unions must be at work by 7:30).
Most of the Union exec will be staying with friends on
campus Wednesday
night - you may consider doing the same.
Please contact Joshua for details - (604) 709-0812
(Regina sends her regards)
