Hi there,

Regarding getting us on as scrutineers in Saturday's plebiscite, I spoke
with Marg Colson, Vancouver's Deputy Chief Election Officer.

Colson said that the city selected its plebiscite scrutineers on
31 January. The city conducted an application process for
scrutineers. If we missed out in that application process, then
we cannot scrutineer. Notice of the process was well advertised,
Colson said.

Colson said a number of scrutineers came forward, from both the YES
and NO sides, but that number is inadequate for proper vigilance of
all polling stations. She suggests that scrutineers form flying
squads, to cover as many stations as possible.

Although we are shut out of the scrutineer job, the invitation is
out for the public to inspect the REGISTRATION DOCUMENTS, which are
available:

26 February to 26 March,
08:30 - 17:00,
450 W Broadway (Vancouver election office).

Colson will appreciate that we make appointments. Her number is
604.873.7349.

As I get more information, I shall post. Any ideas?

-Frank.
