Please become aware of the petition to show approval to the proposed Bill 
C-250, the bill to amend the Criminal code of Canada and see any hate crime toward the glbt community in Canada illegal.

As of now, only race, religion, ethnic background and colour are protected under that particular section of the Criminal Code. Amending it, would mean
Sexual Orientation would then become part of the protection from hate in
Canada.

Please forward this petition to ALL members of your organization in order for us to reach such a goal as 5000 signatures by May 6th.  Although this seems like an impossible task, we can reach that goal if we act now and get this petition circulating around Canada.

April 21st, 2003 - Official Start of the Petition
April 27th, 2003 - Goal to Reach 1500 signatures.
April 31st, 2003 - Goal to Reach 1750 signatures.
May 3rd, 2003 - Official Speeding Up of Petition Process, Petition
will be advertised on Gay.com chat rooms to get as many people as possible from across Canada to sign, as well as we are trying to reach the Kevin Bourassa from samesexmarriage.ca to start a nation wide campaign.
May 5th, 2003 - Last Day To Sign The Petition
May 5th, 2003 11:59p.m. - Official Close of the Petition
May 6th, 2003 - Petition will be sent to the Justice Committee and the
Prime Minister.

This petition was started by the "250 Queer Activitists", originating in
Ontario.
