Dear Friends,

As you may have heard, the date chosen for our next meeting - September
19t - now conflicts with an event with Naomi Klein.  On the advice of
several of our members, we opted to move the date back a week in order not
to lose people.  So, the next meeting will be on:
 
Thursday, September 26th at 7p.m. in room 1900 (large auditorium, main
level) of the SFU Harbour Front Campus.  

I will be grateful if you could circulate this notice to your contact
lists with our apologies.  
 
I look forward to seeing you on the 26th and talking to you more about the
WSF.

For decades now, neoliberal agenda of global greed and planet wide 
oppression have forced the civil society, progressive community and 
non-governmental organizations (NGO) in North America to predominantly
focus their 
efforts in reacting against categorized injustices perpetrated by the
major 
governmental powers of the world and the world's financial institutions.
For 
many years now our movement in various areas of social justice, 
environment, human rights, peace, disarmament ... have not had the
opportunity to 
act in coordination with one another.
We believe that as protest movement has gained a global momentum and led 
to a world wide awareness around the critical issues of social justice, 
human rights, and environment,...there is a new opportunity for us to take
a 
proactive stand and transform ourselves into a practical and sustainable 
movement. A North American Chapter of the World Social Forum would provide

the necessary grounds for us to orchestrate and create the voice of 
oneness.  A voice for which we have been in need for so long.
We believe formation of WSF is a critical and historical step forward in 
North American progressive movement. This is an excellent opportunity for 
all of us to work together towards the realization of our dreams of a 
sustainable, Global Peoples' Movement.
The WSF, as it exists out of Porto Alegra, has started to create a 
platform for all of the progressive forces of the world to come together.
The 
momentum created by the G6B (G8 people Summit) has given us the potential
to 
bring together the North American continent to act together and to 
consolidate a new vision, to implement alternatives and to start the
engine of 
this long needed and awaited process of change.
The North American chapter of WSF, no doubt, would be an environment for 
the entire progressive communities to consolidate their visions and create

close partnerships and plan a sustainable future for our continent in 
specific and the planet in general. The North American World Social Forum 
would be a new beginning for all of us, a beginning of empowerment, 
togetherness and unification of the voices of change. As our vision of the
world 
emphasizes collaboration, it is absolutely critical for us to do
everything 
in our power to bring together and organize the first Annual meeting of 
this Social Forum. Join your voices with ours for we can succeed only, and
only, if we work together.
