To: Vancouver Activists and Progressives,
The Palestine Solidarity Group invites you to attend an important planning
meeting for the September 28th anti-war demonstration in Vancouver. The
meeting will take place:
Tuesday, September 10th
7:30 p.m., Britannia Community Centre, Ice Rink Lounge
(1661 Napier St. at Commercial Dr.)
With Bush driving towards a massive new war against Iraq, coordinated
action by all progressive groups in the city is more urgent than ever.
We hope that working together to build the September 28th rally will be a
big step forward towards more united action.
The weekend of the 28th will see mass rallies in San Francisco, Ottawa and
around the world to both mark the 20th anniversary of the Sabra & Shatila
massacres of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon and to condemn a new war
against Iraq.
The issues of Iraq and Palestine cannot be separated. Israel has
threatened to join in a U.S.-led assault on Iraq -- something it was held
back from doing in the Gulf War -- and to use the war as a pretext to step
up its repression in the Occupied Territories and even carry out mass
expulsions against the Palestinians.
The best way to honour the victims of Sabra & Shatila is to protest
against the ongoing massacres against the people of Palestine and Iraq.
We hope that you will join us in building this demonstration and the
anti-war movement in Vancouver.
