PLEASE CIRCULATE THIS WIDELY :
To all people of conscience,
Can "ordinary" people like you and I criticize or even
discuss the activities of the rulers of our province
without fear of being sued or imprisoned?
That is the question that will be on trial next
Monday, July 22 at 9 am in the "Supreme Court" of BC,
800 Smithe Street, in downtown Vancouver.
Chief Ed John (of the powerful First Nations Summit)
and the government of Canada will be seeking an
injunction at that time to permanently silence their
critics - not only tribal dissidents like Frank Martin
and Helen Michel, who claim that John is forcing
native people off their land at the behest of the
North American Water and Power Alliance - but
non-natives like journalist Eva Lyman, whose only
"offense" has been to question the appointment of Ed
John to the provincial cabinet in 2000, and who was
then threatened by former Premier Ujjal Dosanjh, a
close friend of John's.
If they win their injunction, they can imprison any of
us who are named if we ever again "dare" to discuss
the allegations against Mr. John, which were made
under oath at public Tribunals.
In other words, our constitutional rights will be
legally extinguished.
The targeting of myself by Ed John and government
lawyer Marvin Storrow (of Blake, Cassels and Graydon
law firm) has a deeper purpose - to shut down the
seven-year old campaign to document planned genocide
by the government and the churches against native
people in our country.
This campaign is beginning to evoke an international
response, thanks to the wide circulation of our
report, "Hidden from History: The Canadian Holocaust"
(see website: http://canadiangenocide.nativeweb.org).
(In fact, Prime Minister Chretien and his cabinet have
recently been named in an application before the
International Criminal Court as accomplices in
Genocide.)
Based on testimonies like Frank's and Helen's, this
report names Ed John and others as being complicit in
modern-day crimes against aboriginal people and
children. If John wins his injunction, "Hidden from
History" can legally be suppressed and banned from
public viewing.
To stop this attack on free speech and the
investigation into crimes of Genocide in Canada,
please rally with us outside the Law Courts at 800
Smithe st., Vancouver, at 9 am on Monday July 22.
Human rights obeservers and the media will be present
in the court room that day to document this travesty
of justice and attempted suppression of free speech.
Tell the media and bring your friends.
Don't let a few wealthy men and their corporate
backers crush our precious freedoms! For if they can
silence us today, they will target you tomorrow!
Rev. Kevin Annett, for
The Executive,
The Truth Commission into Genocide in Canada
p.s. Tune in to the next broadcast of my program
"Hidden from History", on Vancouver Co-op Radio, on
Monday, July 29 at 1 pm (102.7 FM) to see if we're
still out of prison!
