She was great to work with in the convergence centre in Calgary over the Summer.
Her experiences working in Palestine and at non-violent civil disobedience were
worth the trip, and her influence worked well in the convergence centre to keep
people centred and focused on what was important, despite the number of
anti-semites from the National Alliance and the Radical paper trying to work in
the same space.

Join me in an experiment
Writing is a lonely occupation, and feedback is often distant and dim. A writer
rarely gets to chew over the content of a book with her readers, or directly
hear responses, questions, and interpretations. But the internet offers new
possibilities of breaking down the gulf between writer and reader. I invite
you to join me on a new listserve discussion group about my latest book, Webs of
Power, Notes from the Global Uprising, (New Society Publishers, 2002.) The
first half of the book is a rough account of two years of the global justice
movement, from Seattle through 9-11, in the form of various articles and essays
I wrote as it was happening. But I¹m mostly interested in discussing the themes
of the second half of the book: our place in nature, direct democratic
organizing, diversity in the movement, reenvisioning nonviolence, alternative
economics, strategy for the movement, and linking spirituality and politics. My
hope is that this discussion will broaden and deepen our activism.
The discussion list is at webs at lists.riseup.net. To subscribe, send an email to
webs-subscribe at lists.riseup.net, or go to .http://lists.riseup.net/www. You can
get email in a digest form, or read it on the web. You can unsubscribe by
sending an email to webs-unsubscribe at lists.riseup.net.
If you don¹t have Webs of Power, there are several ways you can get it. You can
look for it in your local bookstore, or ask them to order it. If you can¹t
afford to buy it, ask your local public library to order it. From my website,
www.starhawk.org, you can order it from an independent online bookstore, or you
can go directly to http://www.100fires.com/cgi-bin/home.cgi. You can also get
it directly from the publishers, New Society Publishers, at
orders at newsociety.com, or by phoning 1-800-567-6772.
They offer discounts on bulk purchases, so if you belong to a book club or an
organization, you can sell books as a fundraiser for your group.
I look forward to meeting online, Starhawk
