JOB POSTING
The Toronto Social Forum requires an events co-ordinator to organize three
major public events happening from mid-January through end of March.
This position is contingent on available funding. We anticipate the position
to be part-time from mid-December through early March and then full-time for
three weeks until the end of March.
The ideal candidate will be experienced in organizing political, educational
and or cultural events for Toronto¹s social justice communities and will be
knowledgeable about all aspects of events organizing.
The Toronto Social Forum has volunteer committees doing program planning,
outreach and communications. The events co-ordinator will focus on the
logistical details of the three events and will liaise where necessary with
various committees. Attention to detail and ability to follow up are
critical. The events co-ordinator will be accountable to the TSF
Co-ordinating Committee.
We need a high-energy, politically-committed and highly organized person who
is reliable, motivated, and can work with minimal supervision but knows how
to be accountable to an activist collective.
The work will include:
- co-ordination of volunteer and student resources;
- co-ordination of registration;
- co-ordination of support services: food, childcare, services for people
with disabilities, etc.
- co-ordination of equipment and space, including for a variety of cultural
activities: films, photo exhibits, musical contributions, etc.
- other duties as needed.
This is a short-term contract at $200 per day.
Starting date: immediately.
Please submit by email a resume and cover letter with the names and phone
numbers of three references to Judy Rebick (jrebick at ryerson.ca) by December
9, 2002.
