Please note the included letter from Paul Fromm, who used to be one
of the "esteemed journalists" for "The Radical" (the dodgy far-right
conspiracist paper which used to be published, until its fortunate
demise, by Arthur Topham).

Subject: Fw: Nazis target B.C. antiracist

The Canadian branch of the neo-Nazi National Alliance has issued a news release
(see below) which targets Dr. David Lethbridge, psychology professor and
antiracist activist based in Salmon Arm, B.C.

The National Alliance, which garnered attention for its attempts to infiltrate
anti-capitalist activists at the G-8 protests in Kananaskis, plans actions
around a speech David is scheduled to give this coming weekend in
Alberta. It is
to be hoped that antiracist, labour, and social justice advocates in Edmonton
will rally in defence of David on a weekend which carries with it the threat of
violence directed at a strong and courageous voice against fascism.

The news release bears the mark of Mark Lemire, the Toronto-based webmaster for
Ernst Zundel, Paul Fromm and the Canada First Immigration Reform Committee
(sic), and the white supremacist Heritage Front.

Also see below, from the Newest Files section at http://www.freedomsite.org/ ,
statements by Paul Fromm on Lethbridge and an article Lethbridge wrote on
antiracist actions taken against Fromm recently in Halifax.

Please forward this message to supporters in Alberta.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
August 19, 2002

DAVID LETHBRIDGE'S EDMONTON SPEECH
CONDEMNED AS AN INTENTIONAL PROVOCATION

Edmonton, Alberta - The National Alliance, Canada's premier White
Nationalist organization, has learned that David Lethbridge will be
addressing a public meeting at 6PM, August 24, 2002 at Queen Alexandra
Community Hall. The meeting is being held as an intentional provocation
against the National Alliance because of their growing presence in
Alberta's Capital Region.

While the mainstream media loves to quote Lethbridge as an authority on
White Nationalism, they are hesitant to identify their source as being a
well-known leader of the Communist Party of Canada (CPC). The
invitation to the meeting, which is sponsored by the CPC, does not
maintain such discretion. It clearly states that he is a columnist for
the CPC owned 'The People s Voice' and if his ideological baggage has
escaped anyone, the speech is entitled, 'Fascism and Class Struggle.'

In addition to writing for 'The People s Voice,' Lethbridge operates a
Communist front-group called the Bethune Institute for Anti-Fascist
Studies (www.bethuneinstitute.org), which is named after the notorious
womanizing drunk and Maoist celebrity Norman Bethune. As a self-declared
expert on the White Nationalism, Lethbridge regularly misrepresents
and/or distorts information to suits his Marxist agenda. The deceit
used by Lethbridge to further his cause is a matter of public record as
he has been successful sued by free speech activists in a British
Columbian court for liable.

The appearance of Lethbridge coincides with what is being billed as the
largest White Nationalist demonstration in Washington D.C. since World
War II. Sponsored by Taxpayers Against Terrorism, the Rock Against
Israel! demonstration and concert on August 24 is expected to bring
over 1000 National Alliance members and supporters to the steps of the
U.S. Capitol.

In protest of David Lethbridge and in support of Rock Against Israel!
the National Alliance will be conducting an aggressive campaign of
literature distribution in Edmonton during the weekend of August 24
25.

Dr. William Pierce, late Founder of the National Alliance, stated that
the purpose of such distributions is to "let others know that they are
not alone and then to help them straighten out their thoughts. We need
to show them just a little bit of courage, to let them know that they
too can speak out without being punished for it."

The National Alliance is an international community of men and women
dedicated to the protection and advancement of Western Civilization and
of its founding race.

Dear Immigration Reformer:

Immigration reformers certainly have the attention of Canada's communists.
David Lethbridge is an instructor at Okanagan College in Salmon Arm, B.C.
He's been a candidate for the Communist Party of Canada and is a
contributor to the Party's organ People's Voice. He's a notorious liar and
spinner of tall tales. Populists and immigration reformers are, in his
lexicon, fascists and racists. Immigration reform is "hate". His verbal
excesses led to his being found guilty of defamation of Eileen and Klaus
Pressler in a B.C. court several years ago.

Here's Lethbridge's latest diarrhoea attack. It's filled with half truths,
lies and wild exaggerations. Suffice it to say that even the headline is
false. The CFIRC meeting in Halifax was not a "White racist" gathering, nor
was it "smashed". It was, indeed, attacked by ARA anarchists, but they fled
and the meeting went on as scheduled.

Indeed, the one's they smear are the ones they fear!

Paul Fromm
Director
CANADA FIRST IMMIGRATION REFORM COMMITTEE
____

White Racist Meeting Smashed in Halifax
David Lethbridge

On 13 July, Paul Fromm's Canada First Immigration Reform Committee (CFIRC)
held a meeting at the Holiday Inn, in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Fromm is a long time white racist and neo-fascist whose activities go back
forty years. He first became prominent as a founder of the violently
anti-communist Edmund Burke Society in the late 1960s. In 1972, he was the
opening speaker at a banquet which featured Ku Klux Klan leader Robert
Miles. He has been a member of the World Anti-Communist League, an
organization of ex-Nazis, white supremacists, and death squad leaders. At a
1990 rally for Robert Mathews, the leader of the murderous neo-Nazi group,
The Order, Fromm referred to Aryan Nations Canadian "ambassador" John Ross
Taylor as a "Canadian hero." In 1994, Fromm gave a eulogy for Revilo Oliver,
a vicious antisemite, during which he advocated that "Aryan man" should
"retake the continent." More recently, he has been whipping up
anti-immigrant hatred and hysteria through CFIRC.

The July meeting was the first incursion of Fromm's CFIRC into Halifax. But,
about a month earlier, at the beginning of June, the white racist Heritage
Front - an organization with which Fromm has extensive ties - had engaged in
a recruitment campaign, leaving racist calling cards in Halifax mailboxes.

Heritage Front activity has increased in Halifax over the last 18 months
since HF was reorganized at the beginning of 2001, and chapters developed
across the country. For example, the Halifax chapter of HF posted racist
flyers in April of last year.

And, significantly, Marc Lemire, national leader of the Heritage Front,
attended the July CFIRC meeting with Fromm and was almost constantly in his
presence, including sharing a vehicle with him.

Happily, the CFIRC meeting did not go unnoticed. Carrying out their mandate
to actively and militantly oppose organized racism and fascism, local
members of Anti-Racist Action (ARA) protested the presence of white racism
in their community. Allegedly, they raided the CFIRC meeting, over-turned
the book table, and set off a stink bomb. Later, they stood outside the
event and chanted slogans. Denise Allen, a woman of color, showed the local
media a racist card that CFIRC was distributing at its meeting, which read:
"Immigration can kill you!"

In an act of what can only be characterized as vicious intimidation, Fromm
has posted the car license plate number and street address of Denise Allen
on his Internet website.

Two days later, on 15 July, the "Immigration Can Kill You" business cards
were distributed by CFIRC agents in Moncton, New Brunswick.

Fromm's appearance in Halifax follows on the heals of his participation at
the Third International Conference on Authentic History and the First
Amendment, held in Washington, DC, June 14-16. The conference was sponsored
by "The Barnes Review," a journal controlled by long-time racist and Nazi
sympathizer, Willis Carto.

Among the long list of speakers at this conference were: Hans Schmidt, Ken
Schmidt, Jurgen Graf, Frederick Toben, Udo Walendy, Sam Dickson, Joan Kahl,
and Eustace Mullins.

Hans Schmidt, who served with the Nazi Waffen SS during World War Two, is
the leader of the German-American National Political Action Committee, and
is a staunch Jew-hater and Holocaust-denier. He has participated at previous
conferences with Aryan Nations and Klan leaders.

Ken Schmidt is the secretary for the New Jersey based neo-Nazi Nationalist
Movement, and a member of the Council of Conservative Citizens.

Jurgen Graf, Frederick Toben, and Udo Walendy are all Holocaust-deniers and
frequent speakers at the Institute for Historical Review, the premier Denial
organization once run by Willis Carto. Graf's Conference presentation
claimed that Treblinka was not a Nazi extermination camp.

Sam Dickson is a white supremacist associated with a number of
neo-Confederate organizations in the Deep South, and an advocate for "ethnic
homogeneity;" that is, a whites-only America.

Joan Kahl is the widow of Gordon Kahl, a member of the white racist
Christian Identity religion, and member of the Posse Comitatus - an
antisemitic tax resistance organization that has spawned the various
right-wing tax refusal organizations now spreading across Canada and the
USA. Joan Kahl has appeared at previous Barnes Review conferences and other
extreme-right meetings.

Eustace Mullins is a virulently antisemitic propagandist, Holocaust-denier,
and author of "Adolf Hitler: An Appreciation." His Conference speech
maintained that the 11 September attack on the World Trade Center and the
Pentagon was the work of - who else! - the Israeli Mossad.

Fromm, humbly presenting himself as a "free speech advocate" and fervent
critic of the "thought police" delivered the concluding First Amendment
banquet address, where he spoke on "Freedom of Speech in Cyberspace."

When his participation at this Conference becomes public knowledge Fromm
will, no doubt, as is his habit, deny that he knew anything about the
Conference's sponsors, or about his fellow speakers, and claim that any
attempt to link him to this foul horde is nothing but "guilt by
association." He will, of course, already have the plane tickets in his
pocket for the next such noble "free speech" assembly where he will be
warmly greeted by perfect strangers once again.

Either that, or he will be creeping back into Halifax to slip some racist
calling cards under the windshield wipers at the mall.

July 2002
