Le mois dernier, Israël a assassiné plus de 150 Palestiniens gazaouis dans
une brutale offensive terrestre, marine et aérienne. Gaza, une bande de
terre mesurant approximativement 360 km² (à peu près la grandeur de
Montréal), est habitée par 1,7 millions de personnes parmi lesquelles la
moitié sont des enfants. Malgré le cessez-le-feu négocié multilatéralement,
Israël poursuit ses tueries indiscriminées et les autorités israéliennes
maintiennent le blocus suffocant sur l’enclave côtière.

L’attaque récente sur Gaza s’ajoute à l’incessant écrasement de la
population civile en Cisjordanie dans un impitoyable effort de mettre sous
silence toute forme de résistance à l’usurpation des terres palestiniennes.
Même après avoir occupé 80% de la Palestine et expulsé la presque totalité
de la population indigène, et après avoir refusé de se soustraire à la loi
internationale en ne leur accordant pas le droit de retour, Israël continue
de construire des colonies et de confisquer des terres palestiniennes.

Il est clair qu’Israël n’a aucune intention de démanteler ses colonies, de
mettre fin à l’occupation et de vivre en paix aux côtés d’un état
palestinien souverain. Dans les deux derniers mois, Israël a lancé des
attaques sans précédent sur l’autorité palestinienne dans le simple but
d’empêcher cette dernière d’obtenir le statut de non-membre à l’ONU.
Aujourd’hui, Israël, avec le support inconditionnel des Etats-Unis et du
Canada, continue d’occuper les terres palestiniennes, de refuser le droit
de retour aux refugiés palestiniens et d’opprimer les Palestiniens de Gaza,
de Cisjordanie ainsi que ses propres citoyens palestiniens. Seules les
sanctions internationales pourront empêcher le prochain massacre.
Il n’est pas question ici de sécurité et d’auto-défense. Il est question de
nettoyage ethnique, d’apartheid et de colonialisme!

Nous exigeons une solution politique qui cible les causes fondamentales de
la situation:

• Mettre fin au siège cruel et illégal sur Gaza.
• Mettre fin à l’occupation et au système d’apartheid israélien.
• Faire tomber le mur d’apartheid.
• Respecter les lois internationales du droit de retour.

This month alone, Israel has murdered over 150 Palestinians in Gaza in a
brutal and merciless 7-day offensive by land, sea, and air. Gaza, a strip
of land measuring the size of the city of Montreal at approximately 360km2,
is inhabited by 1.7 million people; half of whom are children. Even in the
face of a multilaterally brokered ceasefire, Israel continues its
indiscriminate killing and Israeli authorities maintain the suffocating
blockade on the coastal enclave.

This most recent attack on Gaza joins the ongoing Israeli crushing of the
civilian population in the West bank in an effort to ruthlessly silence any
form of resistance to the usurpation of Palestinian land. Even after
forcibly occupying 80% of Palestine through the expulsion of almost all the
indigenous population, and the refusal to adhere to international law in
allowing them the right to return; Israel continues to build settlements
and to confiscate Palestinian land.

It is clear that Israel has no intention of dismantling its settlements,
ending the occupation, and living in peace next to a Palestinian sovereign
state. In the last two months, Israel has launched unprecedented attacks on
the Palestinian authority in order for the latter to refrain from demanding
non-member state status at the UN, a move that follows peaceful resolution
methods including diplomacy and multilateral actions.

Today, Israel, with its unconditional American, Canadian, and general
Western support, continues to occupy the Palestinian lands, deny the
Palestinian refugees’ right of return, and oppress Palestinians in Gaza and
the West Bank, as well as its own Palestinian citizens. Only International
sanctions are going to stop the next massacre.

This is not about security and self-defense. This is about ethnic
cleansing, apartheid, and ongoing colonialism!
We demand a political solution that targets the fundamental causes of the
situation:
• End the cruel and illegal siege on Gaza.
• End the occupation and Israeli system of apartheid.
• Take down the apartheid wall.
• Respect international laws for the right of return.
