 hey, great work! just saw it, having missed the launch and the event
tonight (that i somehow didn't even hear about until 6:38 when gwen told me
at the palestine vigil).

many, mnay great things about this video. just amazing work. i'll have many
more comments tomorrow.

but one immediate reaction on the first flush of seeing it: i'd say cut a
lot of harsha-the-academic/expert. also find it kind of perverse that
jaggi, who more than anyone in this city has built our migrant justice
movement, and has inspired hundreds to be involved, is hardly visible in
the video. he has lots to say and i'd like to see him in this video.

powerful work, big congratulations to all of you for your work on this.

THE MIGRANT JUSTICE DOCUMENTARY PROJECT WANTS YOUR INPUT!

Dear members of SAB,

The migrant justice documentary, which you may have seen at the launch
during Anti-Deportation Days, is nearing its way to completion, and we
would love to have your feedback.

What is this documentary?

With participation and collaboration with members of Solidarity Across
Borders,  Immigrant Workers Center, Mexicans United for Regularization, No
One Is Illegal, the Temporary Foreign Workers' Alliance, the documentary, In
the Shadow of the Border, aims to serve as a popular education tool.

Through the testimonies of migrants who have struggled or are struggling
today to remain in Canada, the documentary attempts to debunk the myth of
Canada as a welcoming multicultural country, and to expose the
exploitative, colonial and imperial foundations of Canada and its
immigration system.

It is our hope that members of SAB and its ally groups will be able to use
this tool to create discussion and conduct popular education activities to
share its analysis, goals and demands.

*Right now, the documentary has people speaking in English, French, and
Spanish, but is only subtitled in English.  We are working to have
subtitled versions in the other two languages.

What do we need from you?

Most if not all of the filming is already completed, and we are now in the
editing stages.  We have been getting and continue to welcome feedback as
we make the final cuts and changes.

1) Do you have any comments (appreciations, or constructive feedback and
suggested changes?) about the film?

We would really appreciate your feedback, and while we will do our absolute
best there is no guarantee that we will be able to integrate all of your
comments (since there is so much that could make this documentary better
but are working with limited resources and time, and also because opinions
can even be contradictory!)

Le film documentaire sur les luttes des immigrant(e)s, que vous avez
peut-être déjà vu au lancement pendant les Journées contre les déportations
est presque terminé et nous aimerions tellement l’acheminer avec votre
collaboration.

 C’est quoi ce documentaire?

Avec la participation et de la collaboration des membres de Solidarité sans
frontières, du Centre des travailleurs et travailleuses immigrants , des
Mexicain.e.s un.i.e.s pour la régularisation, de Personne n’est illégal, et
de l’Association des travailleurs/euses étrangers temporaires , le
documentaire, Dans l’ombre de la frontière, a l’objectif d’être un outil
d’éducation populaire.

 À travers des témoignages des migrantes qui on lutté ou qui continue a
lutté pour rester au Canada, ce film documentaire essaye de démystifier le
mythe que le Canada est un pays accueillant et multiculturel, en démontrant
que le Canada et son système d’immigration sont fondés sur  l’exploitation,
le colonialisme et l’impérialisme.

 Nous espérons que les membres de SSF et ses groupes alliés vont pouvoir
utiliser ce film  pour la création des discussions et des activités
d’éducation populaire pour partager ces analyses, objectifs et
revendications.

 *En ce moment, ce documentaire présent des personnes qui parle en
français, espagnol et anglais, mais c’est seulement sous-titré en anglais.
On travaille pour avoir une version finale sous-titrée dans tout les trois
langues.

 De quoi avons-nous besoin de vous?

La majorité, sinon tout le tournage sont déjà terminés et nous sommes dans
les dernières étapes du montage. Par contre, nous avons reçu et nous
continuons à accueillir du feedback en faisant les derniers ajouts et
changements.

1) Avez-vous des commentaires/observations (appréciations, ou commentaires

membres de SSF et par SSF? Comment est-ce qu’il pourrait être utilisé pour
faire du réseautage et de l’outreach?

 Nous apprécions énormément votre feedback, et même si nous faisons de
notre mieux nous ne pouvons pas garantir que nous serons capables
d’intégrer tous vos commentaires (parce qu’il y a tellement d’éléments qui
pourraient rendre ce documentaire meilleur, mais nous travaillons avec du
temps et des ressources limités, et aussi parce que des fois des opinions
peuvent être contradictoires).

El documental de Justicia Migrante, el puedes haber que visto en el
lanzamiento durante los Días En Contra de las Deportaciones, está llegando
a su conclusión, y nos encantaría contar con su colaboración.

¿Qué es este documental?

Con la participación y colaboración de miembr at s de Solidaridad Sin
Fronteras, el Centro de Trabajadores Inmigrantes, Mexicanos Unid at s por la
Regularización, Nadie es Ilegal, La Alianza de Trabajadores Extranjeros
Temporales, En la sombra de la frontera, el documental tiene la intención
de ser una herramienta de educación popular, para desacreditar el mito de
Canadá como un país multicultural acogedor, pero a través de los
testimonios de l at s migrantes que han luchado o están luchando hoy para
permanecer en Canadá, exponer las fundaciones crueles, explotadoras e
injustas de Canadá y su sistema de inmigración.

Tenemos la esperanza de que l at s miembros de SAB y sus grupos aliados serán
capaces de utilizar esta herramienta para crear discusión y llevar a cabo
actividades de educación popular para compartir su análisis, objetivos y

* En este momento, el documental cuenta con las personas que hablan en

comentarios (ya que hay tanto que podría hacer este documental mejor, pero
estamos trabajando con recursos y tiempo limitados , y también porque las
opiniones pueden llegar a ser contradictorias!)
