*7PM*: "Broken Rainbow," film & discussion w/ Rick Fellows & Black Mesa
Indigenous Support Caravanistas, Media Island in the KOWA Outerspace. Free.
Rick Fellows has been the mechanic for a caravan by the Black Mesa
Indigenous Support since the 80's and has returned with several other
Olympia indigenous solidarity activists. Broken Rainbow is a 1985
documentary film about the government-enforced relocation of thousands of
Navajo Native Americans from their ancestral homes in Arizona. The Navajo
were relocated to aid mining speculation in a process that began in the
1970s and continues to this day. The film is narrated by Martin Sheen.

The public is invited to participate, the annual vigil is an Olympia
tradition. Signs are provided, but participants may bring their own.

Chaudhry facing deportation, Traditions Fair Trade Cafe, 300 5th Ave SW
Local community member Muhammad Zahid Chaudhry is facing deportation to
Pakistan. Zahid (as he is known to friends) is a decorated disabled US Army
National Guard vet and has been married to a US citizen for ten years.
Injuries that he sustained in the military left him in a wheelchair. Despite
this, he is being forced to fight for his right to stay in the United
States. The Chaudhrys have exhausted financial means to fight the
deportation, but now they are currently WITHOUT legal representation, and
Zahid is facing a deportation hearing on January 12. Time is short! Please

A discussion course exploring the connections between food & sustainability
and ideal for those just beginning to learn about issues surrounding food,
health & the environment. The final session is an organic foods potluck.
