Leaders Debate: will Gordon Campbell own up to his broken promises?

Dear Friends:

After four years of broken promises and heartless cuts, Gordon Campbell will not be able to hide any longer. For a full commercial-free hour on all the major networks, Carole James will be holding Campbell's feet to the fire on his extreme policies that have hurt the most vulnerable.

Carole James will ask him all the tough questions while she outlines her fair and balanced vision where everyone matters.

And Gordon Campbell will have to answer for his one-sided government. Remember the last four years?

1. increased medical (MSP) premiums by 50%
2. doubled college and university tuition fees
3. broke his promise not to privatize BC Rail
4. increased Pharmacare fees
5. increased driver's license, hunting and fishing fees, and park user fees
6. attempted to privatize Coquihalla Highway, costing taxpayers $6 million
7. started privatizing BC Hydro, and raised electricity rates - started privatizing ICBC, so we'll pay more for insurance
8. raised sales tax to 7.5% for three years
9. higher ferry fares
10. higher child care costs for thousands of BC families
11. increased physiotherapy and eye care fees
12. cut minimum wage to $6 for new workers
13. closed hospital emergency rooms and some entire hospitals
14. cut more than $50 million from child care
15. increased health waiting lists by 31%
16. sent BC Ferries shipbuilding jobs to Germany
17. cut special needs education
18. 2,500 fewer teachers
19. laid off 300 nurses, and fired 8,000 hospital workers
20. cut training and apprenticeship programs
21. increased school class sizes in every grade
22. created dirty hospitals by privatizing laundry, food and hospital cleaning services
23. broke promise to build 5,000 new long-term beds
24. cut home care for seniors - and even split up some couples
25. eliminated services for women in crisis
26. cut support to families in need and made disability benefits harder to get
27. 113 schools closed
28. doubled gambling, including thousands of new slot machines
29. cut environmental enforcement and protection for our air, water and forests
30. neglected resource communities and increased raw log exports

How will Campbell explain that while he brags about the economy, ordinary people are paying more and getting less?

Will Gordon Campbell own up to his broken promises on health care or BC Rail?

Will he come clean on his real plans for the next four years?

And he'll have to explain to voters why they should believe his promises now.

Sincerely,

Gerry Scott, Campaign manager
