Hello everyone :-)

So everything's good to go for our awesome potluck this Sunday with Rising
Tide. They have booked the Dogwood Centre (706 Clarke Dr, at Georgia) from
1 PM, and have asked that we all bring a fruit (apple, orange, banana,
etc.) so we can make a collective fruit salad.

As far as food, at our last meeting we agreed to prepare a Mexican dish
that goes like this: a pot of beans (which Gil will bring), scrambled eggs
on red salsa (which Teresa and us will prepare there; Gil and/or Alexandra
can guide the salsa part).

If you can think of something else you want to share, please bring it!
There is a kitchen at the venue, so if you need that, you can use it.

And for "the plan" for the potluck, it will primarily be a merry good time
to get to know each other and hear about what we're each working on.
However, we are proposing to focus part of the discussion around two
issues: 1) how are resource extraction and free trade connected, and 2)
what does it mean "to organize" against these things and for building
better communities?

For the second idea, we'll present (rather broadly for now) some of the
points that Miguel Alvarez, of SERAPAZ, talked about in his presentation at
our "FTAs are so 1990s!" event back in November. We'll work on putting
together a more formal or thorough discussion of Miguel's presentation
later on, but his ideas are really interesting and soaked of the wisdom and
patience of movement-building efforts in Latin America, so we figured it
can be helpful to get us all thinking and talking :-)

Please make every effort to come! For sure will be a cool event (and not
just 'cos it's -12 out there!!!). If you have any questions/ideas, please
make sure to email back asap as we only have a few days before the potluck.

See ya there,

Gil
