Hi all,

Please find below my first attempt at a call-out for our Jan. 1st action.
Edit/fix it as you see fit, and once we have it nailed down, we can start
blasting it everywhere. I did not mention the Polar Bear Swim directly, but
if you feel we should, please add it in or send your comments along.

I think we should we set a deadline for sending comments for Tuesday, Dec.
16, as it's already pretty late to promote this, so we should send it out
asap. Would that be Ok with all of yas?

I'll send out my full notes from the meeting tomorrow; it's a bit late to
keep going :-)

*Join the January 1st Annual Day of Action!*

Come celebrate the resilience, dedication and resistance of social
movements and communities across Turtle Island and the rest of the world in
the annual January 1st Day of Action. Greet the new year with us at English
Bay, starting at 12:30 PM, for a program full of fun and entertaining
activities, including a street theatre re-enactment of the eternal struggle
between those who fight for our collective well-being against the few who
seek to profit from the destruction and exploitation of the rest!

The January 1st Collective is making this call-out as an open invitation
for all individuals and collectives to join in on the celebration by
bringing their creative ideas and activities to mark the start of 2015: we
will bring the megaphone, some banners and signs, set up a tent to guard
from the elements, Oaxacan hot chocolate, and prepare our street theatre
performance; the rest of the program is up for you to make happen°*!

*What:* January 1st Annual Day of Action
*Why:* To celebrate another year of resistance and defiance to the greed
and selfishness that drive capitalist and colonial aspirations to build a
world for the few at the expense of the many.
*When:* January 1st, 2015. Start at 12:30 PM
*Where:* English Bay (Beach Avenue, between Bidwell and Cardero)
*More info:* Shoot us an email (jan1st at gmail.com) or contact us on Facebook
(facebook.com/january1stcollective).

°For example, the "Solidarity with Ayotzinapa" campaign will be showing a
short film and organize a creative action to raise awareness of the
situation in Ayotzinapa, Mexico.

**You're also invited on Dec. 29, starting at 6 PM at 1803 E 1st Avenue, to
our material-making and Mexican wrestling rehearsal and crash-course*,
where you can also brainstorm your ideas with us!
