Hi all,
I've added a doc to the "Minutes" folder with these notes. They're roughly
taken so if they don't make sense we can chat about it at the next meeting!
I've pasted them below in case you don't want to go through the trouble of
checking it there :-)
I'm also attaching a draft of an image to promote our event on the web :-p
We can tweak it, as it's only a draft, but I just whipped it together to
move on it.
Hope to see ya all next Wed!

Jan. 1st Collective Meeting
Present: Dave, Karin, Gil
*Nov. 20 event*
- Speakers: Cease Wysse (Harjap contacts her?), someone from the South
(Gil will try some contacts from Mexico and/or Argentina), Mark Leier (Gil
can email him).
- We figured either we can have someone Skype in or even record a
message to play
- We’d like to have a poster and leaflet draft ready for the weekend,
and print it once we confirm the speakers.
- We talked about the facilitators, and thought it’d be best if we had
two from the collective, and proposed two out of the three that were there!
(Gil and Karin)
*Web*
- Gil will look into forwarding the gmail account of the collective in
case nobody checks it regularly
*Jan. 1st event*
- We talked about what we would like the event to look like, and
discussed mostly it’d be great to have a tone that’s sort of proud,
festive, and semi-silent. Something like a march with some sort of unity in
form, but free for people to use as a platform for their own
struggle/community. That means that perhaps it can “look” uniform, but the
messages will be diverse.
- We figured it would be a good idea to use the event on Nov. 20 to
launch a series of meetings/workshops between then and Jan. 1st to make
materials and give the event shape. For example, Dave will look into the
Purple Thistle helping with hosting a materials-making workshop and maybe
helping with the poster idea we already sketched out.
- Since there probably won’t be a lot of people on the streets, we could
focus instead on having some kind of “confetti” leaflet we can throw
everywhere (small and very simple messages), or wheat-paste small posters
as we go.
- We could even facilitate a small critical mass-like group of bicycles
to come in and out of the march and leaflet areas farther out!
- We thought of making some kind of call-out to get ideas for messages
and/or images to be made into the materials, so we can have a series of
concise messages in our banners, placards and signs.
