Thanks Arthur and Pierre-Yves,
I just added Dave Eric and Harjap to the conversation below. Others in the collective may want to add their own names so we can all stay on the same page(s) and help with network outreach.
peace, love and justice,
lisa b

Subject: Re: "Day of Action" around NAFTA 20
Hi Pierre-Yves and everyone:
Thank you for preparing these documents and for all the work that's been done to date. I was on a call earlier today with Raul from Common Frontiers, Manuel from RMALC and others, and am writing to propose an intercontinental day of action against NAFTA, the TPP and corporate globalization for January 31 — the same day as the march in Mexico City.
The idea would be to have people in cities and towns throughout the three countries self-organize actions of their own choosing. I think, if we put out a call quickly, CTC and allied groups could generate several dozen actions in the United States alone — and hopefully more. The Mexico City march could serve as an anchor event people everywhere refer to. (I don't know how much flexibility there is in the scheduling of the Mexico/US border demonstration, but it could also be a good focal point. If it's possible to schedule it for the 31st, that would increase excitement about the day — but, if not, we could still use photos and video from it to inspire others elsewhere to take action later in the month.)
I'd like to reach out to some of the networks that engaged on the previous TPP days of action to gauge their interest, but first wanted to check in with the organizers of the Mexico City events to see if this would be a welcomed contribution to your ongoing efforts. Please let me know what you think.
Many thanks,
Arthur Stamoulis

Following some emails I had with Lisa on the interesting initiatives by the January 1st collective, I am writing to share with you a document of presentation (Spanish and English) I put together on the process towards a week of events and action on the 20 years of NAFTA in Mexico from Jan. 27-31, which tries to build on different initiatives in the making (and it may actually be outdated a little bit since other initiatives may have arisen over the past few weeks). I hope you'll be able to participate in this important process.

I am sure you have been building on the great event you organized a while back on TPP and the contacts you've made there, but let me introduce you to Edgar, who I just met here in Bali who is an activist from Grassroot Global Justice Alliance and lives in Washington State near the border. He works with a community based group centred on farm workers issues. He certainly can give a hand on the US side, if the process goes forward. FYI, plans are progressing for a border action Mexico-USA (Cd Juarez) also around Jan. 1st.
