Hey everyone,

 

Karel and Trevor from CSAAWU poped in earlier. Few things:

 

1) They as a union want to join IWW - I am pretty sure this isfine i.t.o the IWW but need to figure it out i.t.o our Branch

2) They have asked me to write a letter to Dave Klocker (at IWW) requesting support for a campaign called "Defense of CSAAWU Campaign"

3) Defense of CSAAWU campaign - the union is under attack (they have 1000 paid up members and another 500 members not paid up because of problems with employer recognition) In teh past farmers have tried to bribe them, when this did not work they thretened them, they have just won a case lodeged agaist them by farmers - the case was on charges of Hate Speach (farmers said they were using hate speach - the case was thrown out of court) and now they have been served notice of cancellation of registration of a trade union. They have asked for letters of support to keep thier registration, tehy also want to run a campaign and have me to ask Dave for funding for the campaign as well as international solidarity support. Other things we discussed were setting up a Facebook page (Andreas, can you help with this?) Also to post pictures of the bad conditions on farms and quotes from people... Does anyone know about e-petitions? as another option.

They will be sending me information so I can develop a one pager for the campaign to facebook and e-mail to everyone we know who would support the campaign.
