Hi, guy's all brilliant ideas. I wil lonly have cash on th 25th but can help with small contributuion then.
I think an input woudl be good but think a more workshoppy thing nicer and closer to our approach. Get people discussing things by innitiating questions or somethign like that, maybe even see if we could do the exercise Peter has been working on, would need to make it sort... etc.. but lets chat about this on Sunday.
Can't remember if we let everyone know but at the last meeting we said we woudl meet this Sunday 11h00 at my place.

I think it's a good idea...but i cant offer my voice as it tends to shake when there are too many people around. i can enact out scenarios dressed in a clown suite rather - or make a puppet show to go with the talks (like punch and judy - only capitalism and worker) ...
otherwise we can have a mini zine ready by then maybe? with writing and a comics strip? is anyone free to create this? i can draw a comic with the help of a writer and do the (simple) layout for the zine.
I propose something like this:
positive examples of other things taken into the peoples hands that work - so some research needs to go in this direction, unless it's knowledge someone already has.
insight into the wrongs of capitalism
suggestions for freeing yourself in a world controlled by these systems. light daily insights to keep hearts high, and more serious long term instances to build community.
a comic strip illustrating something to do with freedom of expression
please comment and add to/take from these suggestions, they are not too structured or precious. i'm not sure how much printing will cost. if we keep it small and black and white and only print how ever many we will need for that event then it might not be too bad. 3 x A4 sheets per zine will give us 12 pages to work with if we print A5. i have a little money (for a change) to put into this if others are tight this month.
i think it's very important to keep a sense of humor and fun about the zine, make it an uplifting one, but one that takes reality seriously as well.

Hey folks
Have been speaking to Gizelle from evolver. She hasn't been able to secure a suitable venue that has both nice indoor and outdoor spaces, so we've decided to have the January RRFM back at the original venue, but she will be trying to organise a tent. The date is the last Sun in Jan - the 31st. They are planning some discussion/interaction/workshop stuff around the theme of the gift economy, which will happen in the tent. They've also invited us to contribute and participate, of course. She would like one (or more) of us to give an informal talk about the RRFM - why we're doing it, what the motivation is etc. Any volunteers for that?
I'll create a Facebook event for this tomorrow and we can start to spread the word.
Below is the email Gizelle sent out to the evolver crowd.
Cheers,
Andreas
Hi everyone,
The new year is here, and we're planning our first Spore meeting for 2010. The theme is "Give It Up" - gift economies and the culture of giving. See Reality Sandwich (http://www.realitysandwich.com/evolver_spores_give_it_up) for more info.
This month, we are collaborating with The Really Really Free Market (see their Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=163068200145) to bring you an afternoon event - Sunday 31 January, 1pm - 4pm at Zandvlei in Muizenberg.
The afternoon will include:
In the Market Space -
the Really Really Free Market - "Bring useful items that you no longer need or want to share freely with other members of your community. Browse through the things others have brought and leave with what your family needs, regardless of whether you brought something or not."
Opportunities for you to share YOUR gift - if you are an artist/performer/therapist or just have a passion/service/expertise you love to share, come prepared to "show-and-tell"
Activities for kids of all ages - live music (to be confirmed)
Picnic area - bring kids / friends / extra food & drink to share
In the Gathering Space -
A mini-workshop, with clay modelling and meditation to explore the theme of giving
A discussion on Gift Economies (with guest speakers)
Opportunities for you to share YOUR gift - if you are an artist/performer/therapist or just have a passion/service/expertise you love to share, come prepared to "show-and-tell"
What to expect -
A relaxed, fun-filled afternoon - take part in whatever way suits you, arrive & leave at times that work for you
A chance to give and receive in new ways: come prepared to offer something - ANYTHING - and to go home with a gift you've received
An opportunity to share your uniqueness with a willing audience
I'd like help with -
Activities - please let me know if you are willing to entertain kids, play music, give massages, read poetry, WHATEVER! and you'd like more information or help setting up...
Creating the space - I'd love to borrow a stretch tent for the gathering space, if you can help, get in touch please :-)
For more information, or if you'd like to chat about what you have to offer, please don't hesitate to contact me!
Look forward to seeing you all there,
Love,
Gizelle
