 Dear Comrades

You are hereby informed and invited to attend the next general meeting of
the Conference for a Democratic Left (Western Cape) to be held on Saturday
23rd January (9.30am – 1.30pm):

Venue: Elijah Loza Hall, Community House, Salt River

Programme/Agenda:


   1. Welcome/Introduction – purpose of meeting.
   2. Attendance/Apologies
   3. Introductory input on CDL and process leading to the national meeting
   (19 – 21st March 2010)
   4. Developing our perspectives and approach for taking forward the CDL
   towards a united front against poverty and capitalism. (Group
   discussions/commissions – see discussion questions below)
   5. Finance and contributions.
   6. W/Cape preparations for national meeting.
   7. Way forward and next meeting.


*Discussion Questions:*

Read the minutes of the previous meeting workshop held on 16 December 2009
and discuss the following:


   1. What key dangers facing the working class at this time?



   1. What are the most important issues to organise mass campaigns around?



   1. How do we proceed after this meeting to work together in taking
   forward the campaign for a mass orientation of the CDL – What is to be done?



   1. Are we directly developing a political formation? How does our mass
   campaigning around issues identified relate to this?



   1. The CDL is launching a united body of different and autonomous
   organisations and lots of individuals – many without direct links to working
   class formations or communities. How should this be internally organised?



   1. Should this united body participate in the 2011 local elections and on
   what political basis?
