Hey
Perhaps then we should all sit down together for a while on Sunday and chat about what we could do. I like the idea of a zine Meghan.

Yo
I agree fullheartedly. I think we could not and should not merge too much with things esp if they are making money for a small group of artists in the name of creativity. it's a bit irritating to say the least...but never the less i wont be so hostile as to tell them to abolish themselves - peter you can do that, i'll just hide behind a tree with a video camera and cackle over the footage later ;)
mznbrg is a tricky area because almost everyone there seems to be that way inclined, more info is a grea idea. we suggested bringing out some sort of standard pamphlet with all the info on it. maybe this should be a bit of a zene?
i also feel a little edgy with the swap n grab thing going on, but i think people will get the hang of it. esp with some guidance as to what it is we are trying to achieve here. we will see how this one turnes out, but a step away from everyone just bringing stuff to give away would be good. i think everyone enjoyed the market, but did become a little vulturesk towards the end, and feeling like they scored big time as opposed to shared a day with their community etc.
again it is something that should be created by the people as well, and these things take time to form, not all of them have the same books in their houses as some of us do., so the idea would be to get information to them to take home and figure out for themselves...?
fuck. i owe someone money for my nope shirt. so sorry...thats horrible!i'll bring it on sunday...shit...

Hi everyone, left the T's with Peter I think. But I also think its going to take more than T-shirts. I will see if I can think of a banner or something. I will also do areading from Kropotkin or someting similar... still thinking ...but really need to do something a bit bigger. This may not necessarily be a very bad thing as it was bound to happen and shows that we have managed to create a space, we just need to make sure that we do not loose control of the ideological contestation of that space - learining in struggle I guess.

I agree with Mandy - we should think of ways to inject political content into the thing. I think it's fine for it to be as popular as we can make it, the more the merrier, but we should come up with ways to conscientise people who come to the RRFM. Like the T-shirt idea. Mandy, do you still have NOPE shirts? Can't find mine!

On one level it's brilliant and I like it a lot, but my biggest concern is that the whole thing is being absorbed in to the whole Muizenberg Hippie thing - which is really cool but has no politics and without sounding too judgemental is very middle class with limited to no real connection with the broader working class. Whilst our flyer is a good flyer, I think we need to start bringing the politics in otherwise we face the danger of it become or beeing seen as a charity like thing... I was thinking last night that I should find some stuff to read but what else can we do - role play, some kind of education exercise... What does everyone else think? I also think we should all wear our NOPE t-shirts or other t's with political statements... Oh hell, clutching at straws here... My yoga teacher also said she woudl spread teh message through Commmunitree etc. networks

hi guys
claire homeward of the communitree events that take place in muiznbrg village asked this:
Loved the free market - will def be at the next one....
I wonder if you would like to make the free market part of the Communitree Heart space week happening from 14th - 19th Dec? Maybe there could be a section of the space that runs as a free market the whole week? And then we can donate everything that is left over. You could have some info about it up on the wall.
any thoughts on that?
