I'm writing on behalf of The Tower collective to seek the support of the Indigenous Solidarity Working Group of CUPE 3906. The Tower is a radical social space at Cannon and Victoria here in Hamilton, and our goal is to provide free space for grassroots groups and individuals to hold meetings, events, and distribute resources. We launched in early June, but already host many events each week, with more being booked all the time.
We are contacting you particularly to ask for support in our developing library project. We want to stock a large selection of resources that can be borrowed by community members, and we want to make anti-colonial resources a special focus. We are requesting $300 to help us stock the library and to sell books and other publications that are relevant to anti-colonial struggle at reduced cost.
The ISWG has been holding its meetings at The Tower since even before the space opened, and we see you as important allies in building a welcoming and useful space for our movements and communities. We want to work with you to continue centering an anti-colonial analysis in our local movements, and supporting the development of our library seems like a valuable way to do so.
In solidarity,
-Peter Hopperton
