[Iswg3906.organizers] Healing Walk Funding

Hi folks,

I think it's a good idea to kick down a bit of money for the healing walk. I think a donation of $200 would help folks meet their goals. David, Rachel and I met with the two youth from Six Nations who will be attending the other night to share some perspectives on Line 9, and it would be really nice to support them in attending.

How to get the money there is more complicated... I could probably front a hundred dollars as well if that's the best way to do it, though I also couldn't do it by paypal.

Hi everyone:
So it looks like we have about $1500 remaining in the budget if I'm correct, assuming we stick to the $1500 budgeted for the car share but I thought there were some issues with that, as in it would cost a bit more.

I certainly don't mind approving for some funding for the Healing Walk, while keeping in mind our other donation requests. I am in touch with Lana Goldberg who says we can wire some money and presumably get a receipt, or I guess we can use this paypal system to transfer money. I don't mind fronting the money, but I could only front about $100 and I can't use paypal to do so.

What does everyone think?
Also, sorry for being a pain, but I can't meet Wednesday as I'll be in Toronto. I am okay if folks want to meet without me, but if so, it would be nice if I could chat with someone after the fact to get caught up.

Take care,
Tony

Hey all, I just saw the emergency request come over the 6nsn list. I didn't realize quite how urgent this was--sorry about that.

There is no way to get a cheque issued quickly--as far as I know out treasurer has only been in once a week and this is the long weekend.
As far as amount, I'm unclear how much they are looking for. By the sounds of the message that and over the 6nsn list they are out up to $1000. I feel like we have a few donation demands on our budget--line 9 legal support, anti-fracking as well as this, so I'm not quite sure how to make this decision given other priorities and if everyone is ok doing it over email?

I'm away from my computer till later so Tony could you remind is what is remaining in the budget? At this point in the year we could ask Herman to verify that our numbers add up to what he has on record.

If we decide to donate someone would have to front the money (and get a receipt/confirmation of payment) unless they are ok to get it after the trip.

Yup,
Peter and myself met with the two 6 Nations youth who are going on the healing walk and talked with them about Line 9 and the action in the Swamp.

I think that giving them some money would be wonderful!
Who's got our check book?

Hi folks:
Sorry, this slipped my mind entirely. I've attached a description of the Healing Walk. Wondering if people agree that we could provide some funding and if so how to go about doing it?

Thanks,
Tony
