Subject: 2110 responses and clarifications
We send this reply reluctantly. We do not wish to clog up mailing
lists, and this will be our last email. However, if Jaggi Singh or
others insist on initiating further discussion here, we will be
compelled to respond.
If you wish to receive our updates, send an email to
info at 2110democracy.ca or watch http://www.2110democracy.ca
Some brief points:
Regarding Rima Athar's message:
1. We note that the message does not contradict the factual claims
made in our initial message.
2. The board has been saying that they will address a long list of
issues that have been raised, for months. The board can continue to
say this, but since they first said that they will "address" the
concerns, board meetings have been scheduled where no agenda was
prepared. When, if not at board meetings, does the 2110 board plan to
address these issues?
3. The board has not called an Special General Meeting (SGM). They
have announced their *intent* to call one in late November. We have no
confidence in the current board, and we will proceed with gathering
the signatures required to call an SGM ourselves.
Regarding Jaggi Singh's interventions:
Without asking for any background information from any of the four of
us, Jaggi Singh has made the decision to interject himself into the
impasse at the 2110. He has sent aggressive e-mails to many of the
individuals who endorsed our statement and has forwarded a message
from a board member to many list serves. In some instances, endorsers
of our letter have reported that they feel harassed, after receiving
multiple messages from Jaggi Singh. We request that Jaggi leave his
personal feuds with any staff that authored the statement out of this
dispute, which has important consequences for Montréal/Concordia
activism.
