Urgent Message to Abya Yala North from the Indigenous Peoples of
        Ecuador

It has been brought to our attention that President Correa of Ecuador
has announced a visit soon by a group of native Canadians to Ecuador who
represent the pro-mining interests, in an attempt to undermine the
position of the Indigenous Peoples of Ecuador who are in opposition.

We have received the following communique from Ecuador, asking
interventions of solidarity to the effect that the Assembly of First
Nations of Canada **not act as an undermining agent** against our
Indigenous relatives of Ecuador, but stand in solidarity instead with
the Indigenous movement and organizations.

More to follow soon, please contact the email address at the end of the
message to become engaged in solidarity actions from Abya Yala North.

Dear Brother Tupac,

Greetings of brotherhood in the struggle of the Indigenous Peoples in
Ecuador in defense of Pacha Mama, Mother Nature. Well, there is an event
which is directed against our Pueblos who are in the fight against mining.

This event will bring our country to the brethren of the Assembly of
First Nations of Canada with the goal of wanting convince us that mining
is good and that it brings many benefits for Indigenous Peoples.

For us, mining is the most destructive of industries, not only to the
campesinos and indigenous territories, but because it pollutes and
destroys Mother Nature and brings death to all living beings.

For this reason we ask of you to intervene with the indigenous brothers
of Canada that they should not act as agents in support of the mining
solution to our economic problems in Ecuador.

It is not a solution but instead it is an attack against our peoples,
against humanity and Mother Nature. Thus we hope that all the indigenous
brothers who are natives of Canada will stand in solidarity with this,
our position on mining as Indigenous Peoples of the southern continent.

Fraternally
