*Atelier sur l'histoire du Canadien National (CN)
et la résistance autochtone*

Cet atelier est divisé en deux parties. La 1ère partie raconte l'histoire
des chemins de fer au Canada et particulièrement celle de la compagnie
Canadian National Railway (CN). Nous expliquerons comment les voies ferrées
ont joué un rôle de premier plan dans la colonisation du Canada et nous
parlerons de la résistance des autochtones face à cela. La deuxième partie
va expliquer ce qui ce passe en ce moment à Tyendinaga. En effet, le CN a
intenté un procès contre trois militant(e)s Mohawks de cette communauté pour
leur blocage des voies ferrées "appartenant" au CN.

Comme l'atelier se déroule la veille d'une date importante dans le procès du
CN contre les Mohawks à Tyendinaga, on va avoir des lettres à vous faire
signer qu'on va faxer au CN le lendemain.

Atelier présenté par des membres du comité de soutien pour Tyendinaga
(Montréal), un groupe de travail du GRIP à Concordia.

*Workshop: The history of CN railway and the resistance at Tyendinaga*

This workshop presents a history of railways in Canada and how they played a
key role in colonization, with a focus on Canadadian National Railway. This
history will also include native resistance to railway colonialism. The
workshop will then present about the Mohawk community of Tyendinaga, and how
Mohawk people are resisting ongoing colonization. Currently, in a move that
is clearly economic intimidation, CN is suing three Mohawk activists for
blockading CN tracks in 2007.

This workshop is taking place during a month-long fax and phone-in campaign
to pressure CN to drop their racist lawsuit, and the day before an important
date in the lawsuit proceedings. After the workshop, we will have letters
available for people to sign that we will fax to CN the next day.
