POSITION: Executive Director, Native Friendship Center of Montreal

DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION:  April 10, 2007 before 4:30pm

The Native Friendship Centre of Montreal (NFCM) is a non-profit,
non-sectarian, autonomous community development agency whose principal
mission is to promote, develop, and enhance the quality of life in the
urban Aboriginal community of Montreal. We are currently seeking a highly
motivated individual to assume the position of Executive Director. This
position is full-time. The hours of work a 37.5-hour week, but the shift
may vary depending on the programming requirements and attendance at
events, meetings, training and workshops. Some evening and weekend work
may be required when needed.

 KEY DUTIES AND FUNCTION:

Under the authority of the Native Friendship Centre of Montreal Board of
Directors

-	Day to day administration of the affairs and program/services of the
centre;
-	Responsible for the hiring, orientation, training, professional
development and supervision of all staff;
-	Establishes and maintains effective relationships with funding sources,
government officials and other partner organizations;
-	Reviews and evaluates ongoing programs and services;
-	Responsible for all public and media relations;
-	Day-to-day financial management of the organization;
-	Identifies potential sources for funding;
-	Reviewing policies and procedures to ensure that they are up to date;
-	Responsible for the implementation and monitoring of a recovery plan;
-	Working closely with the Board of Directors, Executive Committee and
Committees;
-	Responsible for preparing monthly reports on the progress of the centre
and its projects for the Board of Directors;
-	Any other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
             - Business Management, Public Administration or Human
Services Bachelor’s Degree. An equivalent
                combination of education and experience may be considered.

Work Related Experience:
-	Minimum five (5) years administrative experience;
-	Superior computer skills;
-	Bilingual- Excellent knowledge of English and French language written
and spoken is necessary;
-	Experience in proposal writing;
-	Excellent knowledge of accounting, financial, administrative and program
management in a non-profit organization;
-	Good working knowledge of all government resource agencies and their
programs, regulations and practices;
-	Possess strong board and public relations skills
-	Demonstrate success in implementing collaborative initiatives
-	Extensive experience in organizational development and change management
-	Extensive knowledge of legislation, standards and policies that guide
the delivery of social, cultural, recreational, educational and health
services to urban aboriginal peoples;
-	Knowledge of the Friendship Centre Movement a must;
-	Knowledge of Aboriginal issues, cultures and dynamics.

Other Working Conditions:
-	Willingness to travel;
-	Ability to work flexible hours, overtime and during weekends.
