Sanctuary Updates

[There are at least seven public and ongoing sanctuary cases in the
Canadian state:  Ali Reza Monemi in North Vancouver (in sanctuary
since May 2006); the Raza family in Winnipeg (since August 2006); an
unnamed Costa Rican family in Toronto (since September 2005); Moti
Nano in Ottawa (since January 2006); Kader Belaouni in Montreal (since
January 2006); the Portnoy family of Newfoundland (since November
2005, although the father, Alexi, was deported in January 2006); and
Alexi Kolosov of Newfoundland (since May 2005). There have been at
least a dozen other public sanctuary cases in Canada since 2002. –
