Organisée par Rejetons l'intolérance au Québec (R.I.Qc), un réseau élargi de
groupes, d'organismes, et d'individus dans la région de Montréal opposés aux
prémisses racistes et à la manipulation politique du 'débat' sur les
"accommodements raisonnables" de la part des partis politiques majeurs du
Québec et du sensationnalisme de la presse corporative.

Un forum communautaire ayant pour but de créer un espace collectif pour
examiner les vraies origines politique et sociale des "accommodements
raisonnables", une occasion pour remettre en question leurs fondements en
rapport avec l'opportunisme politique, le racisme et la xénophobie. Un
événement organisé afin de se rassembler pour forger une dynamique de
soutien et de solidarité avec les efforts en cours de communautés
marginalisées qui luttent contre le racisme et demandent le respect et
l'égalité au Québec, et non des 'accommodements' ni la 'tolérance'.

---> Présentations / Performances:

* HICHAM HALLAL: Organisateur culturel avec le Centre communautaire musulman
de Montréal, fondé en 1999 principalement par la communauté libanaise, situé
à Montréal Nord, et dédié à répondre aux besoins spirituel, social, et
éducatif des Musulmans de Montréal. Hesham s'est impliqué directement dans
l'organisation et la création du réseau organisationnel Rejetons
l'intolérance au Québec ( R.I.Qc), en réponse au racisme de la Commission
Bouchard-Taylor au Québec.

* GADA MAHROUSE: Complète présentement un doctorat dans le Department of
Sociology and Equity Studies au Ontario Institute for Studies in Education
de l'Université de Toronto.  Ses études supérieures ont été entamées grâce à
son expérience au sein d'organismes communautaires féministes. Ses intérêts
spécifiques se rapportent aux théories critiques de la race, féministe et
postcoloniale; le pouvoir dans les mouvements de résistance et de
solidarité; et l'éducation et la justice sociale. Elle a enseigné plusieurs
cours sur la race et le genre à l'Université de Toronto et l'Université
d'Ottawa.

* ROBYN MAYNARD & FARHA NAJAH, PERSONNE N'EST ILLÉGAL: Une présentation du
collectif pour les droits des réfugiés et des immigrants anti-coloniaux, qui
a pris un rôle central dans l'organisation d'une réponse anti-raciste au
présent 'débat' sur les 'accommodements raisonnables'; incluant
l'organisation récente des lignes de piquetage et des tribunes publiques à
l'extérieur de la Commission Bouchard-Taylor, qui ont subi une attaque
policière lors de laquelle des policiers en uniformes on poussé et frappé
des manifestant-e-s et ont fait usage de bâtons; plusieurs policiers ont
aussi sorti leurs pistolets Taser.

* 23 (tu-three): Un artiste musulman transplanté de la Floride, maintenant à
Montréal, performera une série de poèmes reliés au présent 'débat' sur les
'accommodements raisonnables'. 23 (tu-three) s'est impliqué directement dans
la création du réseau organisationnel Rejetons l'intolérance au Québec (
R.I.Qc).

Organized by Refusing Intolerance in Québec (R.I.Qc), a network made up of a
broad spectrum of groups, organizations, and individuals in the Montreal
area opposed to the racist assumptions and the political manipulation of the
current 'debate' surrounding "reasonable accommodations" by all major
political parties in Québec and sensationalized by the corporate media.

A community forum aimed to create a space to collectively examine the real
political and social roots of "Reasonable Accommodation", an opportunity to
challenge its foundations in political opportunism, racism and xenophobia.
An event organized to come together in an effort to build support and
solidarity with the organizing efforts of marginalized communities to fight
against racism, to demand respect and equality in Quebec, not
'accommodation' or 'tolerance'.

* HICHAM HALLAL: Community organizer with the Centre Communautaire Musulman
de Montréal, established in 1999 mainly by the Lebanese community, located
in north Montreal and dedicated to meet the spiritual, social and
educational needs of Muslims in Montreal. Hicham has been intrinsically
involved in the organizing and establishment of the network Refusing
Intolerance in Québec ( R.I.Qc) aiming to respond to the racism in Quebec
surrounding the Bouchard-Taylor Commission.

* GADA MAHROUSE: Completing a doctoral degree in the Department of Sociology
and Equity studies at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education of the
University of Toronto. Her graduate studies were prompted by experiences in
community feminist organizations. Her specific areas of interest include
critical race, feminist & post-colonial theories; questions of power in
solidarity and resistance movements; and social justice education. She has
taught several courses with a focus on race and gender at the University of
Toronto and at the University of Ottawa.

* ROBYN MAYNARD & FARHA NAJAH, NO ONE IS ILLEGAL: Presentation from the
grassroots anti-colonial immigrant and refugee rights collective which has
been centrally involved in the anti-racist organizing response surrounding
the current 'debate' on 'reasonable accommodation', including the
organization of the recent pickets and speak-outs outside the
Bouchard-Taylor Commission, which faced a police attack in which, uniformed
officers pushed and punched protesters, and used batons; several police had
also drawn their taser guns.

* 23 (tu-three): A Muslim artist transplanted from Florida now residing in
Montréal, who will be performing a series of poems concerning the current
'debate' in Quebec surrounding 'Reasonable Accommodation'. 23 (tu-three) has
been directly involved in the creation of the organizing network Refusing
Intolerance in Québec ( R.I.Qc).
