The Department of Indian and Northern Affairs is considering increased
security at some of its offices in downtown Gatineau, after escalating
vandalism in the past week.

The latest incident was Monday, and involved a small explosion in a
hallway on the 17th floor of 10 Wellington Street. A CFRA News source
says the explosion was caused by a blasting cap, which is used as a
detonator for more powerful explosives. No one was injured.

Gatineau Police confirm they've been called to the building twice
recently for vandalism cases, and they're waiting for a chemical
analysis of what caused Monday afternoon's explosion.
