Join Tadamon! & No One is Illegal for an evening of films, exploring issues
of
social struggle & resistance from the street & detention centers of Canada
to
the prison cells & armed resistance of Lebanon....

Including the Screening of:

----> Souha Surviving Hell:

A cinematic journey into Khiam Prison with the charismatic Souha Bishara. In
1989 at the age of twenty-one, Souha - a devoted communist - agreed to
attempt
the assassination of Lebanese General Antoine Lahad, who was collaborating
with
the Israeli Army in the South of Lebanon.... Lahad survived, but Souha was
quickly arrested and thrown in the Khiam prison where she spent ten years
for
the attempt on Lahad's life. Conditions in Khiam were horrific, and Souha
endured six of those years in solitary confinement.

----> Borderless:

A documentary film produced by KAIROS Canada, directed by Gemini nominated
filmmaker Min Sook Lee, written by poet Dionne Brand and narrated by dub
poet
d'bi young. As undocumented workers & their allies are mobilizing to protest
recent deportations, this striking film revels the stories of people living
in
this precarious situation....

Borderless is a twenty-five minute documentary poem about migrants living
and
working without status in Canada. Told in their own voices, the stories of
Geraldo, an undocumented Costa Rican construction worker, and Angela, a
second-generation Caribbean domestic worker, bring to life problems of
labour
exploitation and family separation caused by restrictive immigration policy.
Viewers are introduced to an invisible workforce and invited to reflect on
the
hidden costs of sustaining our first world economy.

Tadamon! [Solidarity!, in Arabic] is a Montreal-based collective of
social-justice organizers & media activists, working to build relationships
of
solidarity with grassroots political movements for social and economic
justice
between Beirut & Montreal.

In the context of historic political changes taking place in Lebanon,
Tadamon!
through it's political work, aims to support struggles for social justice
and
human rights of ALL people living in Lebanon, through direct coordination
and
organization between activists in Beirut & Montreal.

In Montreal, Tadamon! aims to organize within the Lebanese Diaspora, through
popular education, cultural work and political action, which address
struggles
facing the Lebanese community, such as immigration, racism, poverty and
labour
rights.

Through organizing work both locally and internationally, Tadamon! aligns
itself with social justice movements in Lebanon, Canada and internationally

qui
explorera la résistance et la lutte sociale, allant des centres de
détentions
et des rues du Canada, à la résistance armée et les cellules de prisons du
Liban....

Cette soirée comprendra les films suivant:

----> Souha Surviving Hell:
[Arabe avec sous-titres anglais]

Un voyage cinemathèque dans la Prison Khiam avec Souha Bishara. En 1989 et à
l'age de 21 ans, Souha - une comuniste devouée - accepte de tenter
l'assassinat
du General Libanais Antoine Lahad, qui collaborait avec l'Armée Israelienne
au
Sud du Liban... Lahad survit, tandis que Souha est arrêtée et emprisonnée
instantanément dans la prison Khiam ou elle passera 10 ans de sa vie, pour
avoir tenter d'assassiner Lahad. Les conditions de la prison Khiam étaient
atroces, et Souha passe 6 ans en confinement solitaire.

Un film documentaire produit par KAIROS Canada, réalisé par le réalisateur
de
film nominé pour le Gemini, Min Sook Lee, écrit par le poète Dionne Brand,
et
la narration faite par le poète dub d'bi Young. Ce film révèle les histoires
des personnes vivant dans des situations précaires, dans le contexte des
manifestations par des travailleurs sans documents et leurs alliés,
protestant
contre les récentes déportations.

Borderless est un documentaire-poème qui dure 25 minutes, et qui dévoile la
vie
de ceux qui vivent en tant que personnes sans status au Canada. Les
histoires
de Geraldo, un travailleur en construction de Costa Rica et sans documents,
et
Angela, une Caribéenne de deuxieme génération travaillant en tant que femme
de
ménage, mettront en perspective les problèmes d'exploitation dans le domaine
du
travail et la séparation familiale, dues aux lois d'immigration
restrictives.
Ce documentaire présente au public la face du main-d'euvre invisible, et
invite
à refléter sur les couts inédits que valent le soutiennement de la première
economie mondiale.

----> Les Principes de bases de Tadamon!

Tadamon! [solidarité en arabe], est un collectif d'activistes pour la
justice
sociale. Installé à Montréal, il fournit soutien et solidarité aux
mouvements
locaux de justice économique et sociale au Liban.

Dans le contexte des changements politiques historiques qui ont eu lieu au
Liban, Tadamon! vise à soutenir par ses actions les luttes pour la justice
sociale et les droits humains pour TOUTES les personnes qui vivent au Liban,

grâce à la coordination directe et à l'organisation entre les activistes de
Beyrouth et Montréal.

A Montréal, Tadamon! cherche à organiser, grâce à la sensibilisation des
gens
dans la Diaspora libanaise, une action culturelle et politique, qui se
consacre
aux luttes auxquelles la communauté libanaise est aux prises, comme
l'immigration, le racisme, la pauvreté et les droits dans le domaine du
travail.

En organisant son action, tant à l'échelon local qu'international, Tadamon!
est
en phase avec les mouvements de justice sociale au Liban, au Canada et sur
le
plan international, mouvements qui sont par nature contre le capitaliste et
les
tendances autoritaires.
