FINANCE OFFICER
Reporting directly to the Executive director, this position provides record
keeping services for the Native Friendship Centre of Montreal and also
prepares and submits monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to the
Native Friendship Centre of Montreal Management, the Board of Directors and
program funding agencies. More specifically, this position shall be
responsible for:
Duties
The ongoing update of the Native Friendship Centre of Montreal 2003
Simply Accounting accounts payable system;
The ongoing update of the Native Friendship Centre of Montreal 2003
Simply Accounting accounts receivables;
The ongoing update and maintenance of the payroll system and benefits
program;
The preparation of updated monthly Financial Statements for presentation
to the Native Friendship Centre of Montreals Management and Board of
Directors;
The preparation of financial reports and budgets to federal and provincial
funding agencies and foundations as required;
The participation in the annual audit of Financial statements and review
of the Native Friendship Centre of Montreal accounting system;
The performance of other related duties as assigned by the Executive
Director;
Bookkeeping Duties which include preparing all necessary documents and
papers monthly to the External Accounting Service;
The preparation of cheques and the maintenance of financial filing;
The payment of bills and keeping track of invoices and statements
Statement of Qualifications
Education and Experience
Possession of Diploma in Bookkeeping/Accounting desirable
Completion of Post Secondary/Accounting 1 & 2 courses or the equivalent
experience
Minimum 2 years bookkeeping experience with acceptable work references
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of Simply Accounting Software (Version 2003)
Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel (2000)
Knowledge of Mandatory Employment Related costs (MERCs)
Possess superior bookkeeping skills
Possess accurate data entry skills
Demonstrate the ability to analyze and interpret financial statements
Knowledgeable in the use and operation of office equipment
Willing to undergo a Criminal Record Check and sign the Native Friendship
Centre of Montreal Oath of Confidentiality form
Three (3) references required
