Announcing this year's Homelessness Marathon and seeking your help

CKUT Radio McGill is calling for your help for this year's Homelessness Marathon. We need folks to:

- answer phones (preferably bilingual and ongoing all evening)
- serve food
- set-up and takedown (on the 15th @ 9am and 2pm and the 16th @ 7am)
- engineers to run the board at the broadcast location and at CKUT's studio
- do poster and handbill distribution (just pick some up at the station, 3647 University)

If you would like to sign-up for any of the above tasks, email
marathon at ckut.ca or call 514.398.6788.

*WINTER 2006: THE HOMELESSNESS MARATHON ... from sunset on Wednesday February 15th until sunrise.*

/"... ending homelessness isn't a matter of charity but a matter of changing the way our society is structured."
Homelessness Marathon founder Jeremy Weir Alderson, of WEOS Radio in Geneva, N.Y./

This year's Homelessness Marathon will broadcast live from the streets of Montréal on Wednesday, February 15th, starting at sunset and running all night long until sunrise on Thursday, February 16th.

The fourth annual Homelessness Marathon will once again serve up 14 hours of people-powered radio, broadcasting this year from outside of the Native Friendship Center (corner of St. Laurent and Ontario). With the goal of being a consciousness-raising event, the Marathon will provide an opportunity for homeless people and their supporters to take to the airwaves, and allow a nationwide discussion on homelessness issues and possible solutions.

For more information on carrying this year's Marathon or to confirm you participation again, please contact CKUT's Community News Department. A broadcast schedule and updates are available at: http://www.ckut.ca/homeless.html.
