Warrior flag replaced by fleur de lys

Just a few days after an article appeared in Le Journal de Montreal
about Warrior flags on the Mercier Bridge, someone removed a flag
and replaced it with a Quebec flag. The article was about how the
Warrior flags' presence on the Mercier Bridge was unwanted and that
they did not belong there. The flags were placed on the Mercier
Bridge by men of the community as a sign of support to the people of
Six Nations and their dispute with Henco Industries at Caledonia,
Ont. Following the article, which appeared in last Wednesday's
Journal de Montreal, there was some anti-Mohawk sentiment expressed
on French-language radio programs. Then sometime between the late-
night hours of Saturday, May 13 and the early morning hours of
Sunday, May 14 one Warrior flag was removed and was replaced by a
Quebec flag. By early afternoon, the Quebec flag had been removed
from the Mercier Bridge. The other Warrior flags still remain on the
bridge showing Kahnawake's support for Six Nations.
