on a hunch, I tried checking the sitemap, and found both the "terrorist"
definition and the comments, even though the link is gone. I'm cutting
and pasting the comments page so that they will live on in archives:

Some Comments from emails received...

I lived near the Dudley George incident. The protestors are using an
illegal act to try and resolve a dispute from 200 years ago. I have 1
question...... If I decide I need more land, should I go to my ancestral
home, (my grandparents came from the Ukraine during the war) and fight
for my lost land???? I would be immediately shot or imprisoned. This
country's laws are a joke! The land was given up/lost/bought.... who
cares.... a LONG time ago.... these people have no claim. It was lost. I
have sat by quietly as these people say they are peacefully protesting
while waving 2x4's in people's faces. The same thing happened at
Ipperwash while my neighbors had to endure a lot of strife that the OPP
was too stupid or chicken to defend.... I ask one question... If our
neighbors decided to defend the park from the 'occupiers', who would go
to jail? Dudley George was shot while threatening the peace of Canada.
Too bad.
Get with it and defend CANADA.... not a subculture...
I am not a racist! I believe everyone is equal... as long as we ALL play
by the same rules of this land TODAY! No group should have the ability
to override another, which is what is happening with the natives in
Caledonia right now.

Stand up for the rights of the Canadian people!
Thank you,

well it is just a comment on something I saw on the news. It was some
lady with curly hair talking with one of the native occupants. It was
what the lady said- we are losing money and have to work to get it, well
along those lines. Then what got me was what the occupant asked, or
said-where do we get money every month duh? how do we get it, we're
losing too. He then walked away after getting really rude. Well if it
matters or not, the native
population gets money each month commonly called "distribution" which is
a portion of a lump sum of money that the natives "distribute" to all of
the members from their particular reserve. So to answer the native
occupant-yes they do get money handed out each and every month for
having Native North American status. Unlike the people who are being
kept from living their lives and get nothing, who are native to this
place also, just with Native Canadian status only. Well its just what I
thought of when I saw that scene on the 6pm news about this whole deal.

............

Yes, there is a distribution fund put into the bands hands on a monthly
basis for distribution to the individuals.

But as well, the Six Nations people do not pay a lot of taxes for goods
and services and probably even more that I don't know of. So, yes there
is a very inequitable situation in place and it kind of raises the
question of when is enough--enough. It has to be stopped by the
government and it has to stopped immediately before permanent harm is
done that will be irrevocable.

Ontario can't have another Ipperwash!!!!

..........

1. They want to be respected, yet they put up road blocks, burn stolen
tires (Since corrected-Tires were donated) and destroy our bridges

2. They wear bandana's on their face. We already know what they are.

3. They want to be treated "equally", yet they still don't pay tax, they
don't obey any laws and they get PAID to go to school.

4. They say they own the land, but they really sold it years ago and
then when the REAL owner was starting construction they finally said
they want it back.......that's where we got the term Indian giver'.

5. If they win the protest, whenever they need anything they will just
protest again because they won the last one.

6. I know they don't care about kids education, but if they keep
canceling school because of their actions other peoples education will
suffer.

7. They want to honour their "sacred land", yet they don't hesitate to
burn multiple parts of it with fire.

8. They say they want to be "peaceful", yet again they steal things,
start fires, and call out "WE WANT WAR"

9. They hate us for "stealing" their land but when they need something
(i.e.- fast food, beer or cigarettes) they'll come past the barrier and
get it no problem.

10. They try to intimidate non-native students at school by hurting
them, yelling at them, and graffiti the walls with phrases like "NATIVE
PRIDE" and drawing the warrior flag on the walls.

I attended both rallies Monday night. The fairgrounds to hear what was
being said. It was interesting to hear the comments of those who do not
live in the immediate area. ATV's up and down the northern perimeter of
the land in question. Children cannot play in their backyards. Cannot go
to school for two days and when they do, there are OPP cruisers on the
property. How does one explain that to a six year old?
I attended the second "mob scene" out of frustration for what is not
being done by ANY elected official. It was interesting to note that the
OPP were facing us and not the natives who have already broken the law
(and getting away with it). How do you explain the concept of law and
justice when this is going on.
I do not consider myself a racist. I am a Canadian and as such, I have
the right to defend my property ( providing, of course, that I don't
disrupt the status quo). I am fed up with being complacent and waiting
for what? I agree that cooler minds must prevail but when are they going
to do something?
All levels of government have proven to us that we don't amount to much.
After all, Caledonia only provides about 10,000 votes.
DO not go quietly into this abyss....stand up for what you believe in.
Stand up for Canada.
Stand up for Caledonia.
Stand up for your rights as a tax paying (ALL taxes) Canadian.

Congratulations to you and all the citizens of Caledonia for standing up
for your rights. It's about time that Canadians stop being pushed around
by minority groups using militant, illegal tactics. If the millions of
law-abiding, tax paying citizens start to push back maybe the government
would do their job.
I live in Burlington, and believe me, there are lots of people that
support your cause and wish there was some way we could help. Perhaps a
petition, or a formal media invite to people across Ontario to join your
rally as a mass show of support.

I have been somewhat following the incident which has occurred in
Caledonia and I have one question for the Six Nations. Why did they
wait until after the builders had cleared the land and started building
homes to start their protest? There would have been notices posted on
the land well before this protesting started signaling all of Caledonia
that a new sub-division was being built. If the Six Nations Band wanted
to protest this "taking over of their land" why didn't they do last
year? Or did they wait just for the right time when they knew it would
be the most inconvenient for everyone (Just trying to be objective here)

My other thought is if it is true that the Canadian Government gave the
Natives this land at Douglas Creek Estates however many years ago, where
is the signed treaty, contract, what-have-you from the government to
them stating that this land is and always will belong to the Natives. I
want to see it.

I can compare this loosely to the fight between Palestine and Israel.
They have been fighting for the same land for so long the people don't
even know what they are fighting about.

What more do they want? I would love to get a free education and not pay
GST.
I agree in equality for everyone. If you live in Canada, you obey the
laws of Canada. Unless the Six Nations can prove in writing that Douglas
Creek Estates belongs to them and only them then lets end this
ridiculous fight and let the town folk get on with their lives.

For those who have invested money in a home there, I hope you can opt
out and get a full refund of your down payment.

The time is long overdue. The Canadian government should have begun
dismantling the Indian Reserve System years ago. It's quite apparent
that the system does not work. You can not segregate a specific cultural
group from the rest of the population with out creating resentment and
frustration as a result, no matter how generously you compensate, (and
perhaps "compensate" isn't the correct term to use in this situation)
that group economically. In fact, perpetual compensation only creates a
welfare state. If you give, and give, to a specific group, over a
substantial period of time, that group will naturally come to expect to
receive and receive. If Reserves are gradually dismantled and their
populations slowly integrated into mainstream Canadian society, the
Native culture can and will be left intact, and by all accounts, given
the example of other cultures here, Native culture will flourish. Canada
is a diverse multiculterd society, hundreds of different ethnic groups
have come to this country and yet they still practice and enjoy their
distinct cultures. As for "Land Claims", just how much land does one
group need? I wonder what the ratio is, Acres to Population? Certainly,
Natives of the far north need land for their survival, but lets face it,
traditional ways of survival, i.e.; hunting & fishing are obsolete and
unnecessary for survival in this day and age, particularly in the
southern part of every Province. How do you begin the process which I
propose? That question is for greater minds than mine to resolve.
Perhaps some day, our great elected officials will resolve the issue,
but in the meantime, I'm not going to hold my breath.
