Every year on December 16th, the Alcan't in India campaign organizes
actions to
commemorate the shooting of three indigenous villagers protesting a bauxite
mine and aluminum smelter on their lands. Montreal-based corporation Alcan
holds a 45% share in this project, which will displace thousands of
indigenous and low-caste villagers in Kashipur, India. This year, the
anti-mine people's movement has faced an unprecedented rise in police
violence and repression. Come join us as we plan to bring the Kashipur
resistance to Alcan's corporate headquarters on December 16th, 2005!!
