In 1914, the Komagata Maru, a vessel with 376 immigrants from British India,
became the first ship carrying migrants to be turned away by Canada. The
consequences were felt throughout the British Empire. More than a history film
essay that interweaves photographs, newsreels, home movies and official
documents to unravel a complex and little-known story. In light of contemporary
Canadian immigration policy, this incident remains both telling and relevant.

Filmmaker to be in attendance.

A unique event, with live film-screenings on the street in Montreal, which
illustrate the front-lines of the Palestinian struggle for liberation
throughout the world. This event is being organized as part of the mobilization
towards the May 6th demonstration, "Refugee Camps Are No One's Home", organized
to support the ongoing struggle against the deportation of Palestinian refugees
from Canada and to condemn the ongoing construction of the Israeli Apartheid
Wall.

{This event will also include a series of short presentations from members of
the Coalition Against the Deportation of Palestinian Refugees and the
International Solidarity Movement (ISM) of Montreal.}

::::::::::::::
FILMS Include:
::::::::::::::

----> IT'S ALL LIES! - A documentary about Israeli Anarchists Against the Wall.
This fascinating and action-packed documentary looks at a growing and
controversial movement in Israel, the Anarchists Against the Wall. Voicing
their uncompromising support for Palestinian resistance against Israeli
apartheid, the Anarchists Against the Wall are fighting the empire directly
within the belly of the beast.

----> MYTHOS CANADIENSIS (Les Lucioles, 2003) - A short documentary directed by
David Widgington of Les Lucioles, a video activist collective in Montreal. The
film documents the struggle of Palestinian refugees in Montreal against
deportation at the hands of Citizenship and Immigration Canada, specifically
focusing on the deportation of Palestinian Refugee Ahmed Abdel Majeed in fall
of 2003, who was deported to Ein el-Helweh refugee camp in Southern Lebanon.

----> JENIN JENIN (Mohamed Bakri 2003) - A documentary film on the Israeli
military incursion into the Palestinian refugee camp of Jenin in April 2002,
widely viewed as one of the most devastating Israeli military operations during
the second Intifada. This film provides moving testimonies from residents of
the Jenin refugee camp in the days after the military incursion, which
destroyed large sections of the refugee camp, surrounding areas and left more
than 50 Palestinians dead.

Organized by: the Coalition Against the Deportation of Palestinian Refugees,
the International Solidarity Movement (ISM) of Montreal & Need 2 Know Film

===============================>
JEUDI 5 MAI à 21h00
2033, rue St-Laurent
===============================>

Mouvement de Solidarité International (ISM) à Montréal.}

:::::::::::::::::::
FILMS projetés :
:::::::::::::::::::

----> IT'S ALL LIES! - Documentaire sur les Anarchistes israéliens contre le
Mur.

Need 2 Know.
