A benefit concert for the International Solidarity Movement (ISM), featuring
the most exciting musicians, poets, performers and singers from Montreal and
beyond. An event, which will bridge various artistic communities, all who will
be performing united in their support for the Palestinian struggle against
occupation.
Including a performance from U.S. based folk-singer DAVID ROVICS, members of
KALMUNITY's Word Sound System, renowned Oud player SAM SHALABI, Montreal dub
poet KAIE KELLOUGH, the riddims of DJ ANDY WILLIAMS, Iranian "Santour" player
AMIR AMIRI and the Balkan sounds of WESHIDA

"New Freaky Arabic Music!" will bring together some of the most talented
musicians in Montreal's blossoming independent music scene, including members
of the Shalabi Effect, Godspeed You Black Emperor!, A Silver Mt. Zion & Black
Ox Orkestra.

Kalmunity's Word Sound System, will feature the words, sounds and rhythms from
members of Montreal's Kalmunity Vibe Collective. This performance will focus on
the spoken-word element of Kalmunity, providing a rage of artistic voices.
-> David Rovics: David is a well-known and traveled folk singer, who's music is
known throughout the world by those who love the art of using song to voice
political and social dissent. David's recent albums including "Songs for
Mahmud" & "Return", focus heavily on the Palestinian liberation struggle. He
has shared the stage with many activists and performers like Howard Zinn, Noam

-> Amir Amiri: Amir who will be playing the traditional Iranian instrument the
"Santour", is one of the most exciting and diverse musicians playing in Canada
today. He has worked with a diversity of well known musicians, ranging from
India's Ravi Shankar, to renowned double bass player Edgar Meyer, to Canadian
jazz musician Hugh Fraser, to world-famous cellist YoYo Ma.
-> Weshida: Weshida is a group of musicians from different backgrounds and
cultures, which brings together the Balkan sounds of music from Eastern Europe
and the Middle East, within a modern context.
