[Karina, Jared, Marie-Eve, Genevieve, Jesse of SPHR McGill, Martin of ISM,
and others are on trial this week. Support in court this Wednesday or
Friday would be great, even if just for an hour. Thanks! -- Jaggi]

The trial of the Westmount 19 will continue this week. However, there will
not be court on Thursday (March 10), but there will be hearings on
WEDNESDAY (March 9) and FRIDAY (March 11). Again, your physical presence
in court is much appreciated.

Municipal Court is located at 775 Gosford, near metro Champ-de-Mars. Court
is usually in session between 9:30am to 12:30pm and 2:30pm-4:30pm. The
trial will take place in room 1,40, but if not, just ask one of the guards
about where the trial of “the protesters” is taking place.

MONTREAL)

--> An appeal for your solidarity and support!

Last May 2004, hundreds of protesters marched to Westmount, as part of an
anti-poverty demonstration organized by CLAC Logement and the
ComitZ<caron> des sans emploi. There was a heavy police presence that
tailed the demo, and went on to round up various protesters.

According to the evidence disclosed to arrested protesters, one Montreal
police sergeant complained partway through the demo that the police had
yet to arrest anyone ('meme pas une seule arrestation, tabernac!'). In the
end, the police were partially successful in their mass arrest tactic,
detaining approximately 22 protesters, and ticketing others. Some of the
demonstrators ended up spending the weekend in jail before being released.

Nineteen of the people arrested (everyone except the minors) will be going
to trial to fight their charges next week. At least three accused will be
defending themselves. The accused face various charges, including illegal
assembly and mischief.

This e-mail is asking for your support for the Westmount 19. There are two
main ways you can help:

--> ATTEND COURT: A strong presence in court is a morale boost for the
accused and also sends a clear message to the judge. The Westmount 19
trial takes place on Wednesday March 9 and Friday, March 11 at Montreal's
Municipal Court in room 1,40. Municipal Court is located at 775 Gosford,
near metro Champ-de-Mars. Court is usually in session between 9:30am to
12:30pm and 2:30pm-4:30pm. Again, your physical support in court is
appreciated.

--> DONATIONS: There are various costs associated with this trial,
especially with out-of-town defendants, and self-represented accused.
Your donation, whether $5 or $50, helps. You can donate by making a cheque
to the ÒLibertas Legal CollectiveÓ with ÒWestmount TrialÓ in the memo
line. You can mail cheques to:

Libertas Legal Collective

If you are sending a donation, please let us know.

Thank you for taking the time to read this appeal. See
you in court!
