Position Context:
Responsible for the day-to-day administration of the First Peoples House.
Foster solid contacts in the Aboriginal and Inuit communities. Organize events
for students and the university community. Procure financial and non-financial
sponsorships.
Key Roles:
Plan, develop and implement administrative procedures, policies and processes to
support a faculty/department/ unit's goals and objectives and the University's
overall mission of teaching and research; and foster relationships with other
University units and external organizations. Perform and/or organize activities
in support of the daily operations of a faculty/department/unit, by ensuring
that administrative services are carried out in accordance with established
goals and objectives. Implement administrative procedures or systems that are
moderately complex to support the unit's operations and to ensure that
administrative services meet or exceed established quality requirements. Act as
advisor to unit members regarding University policies and procedures.
Education and Experience:
DEC III (Business Administration).
Three (3) years' related experience.
Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities:
Must be self-directed and able to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
Organizational skills; proven ability to manage multiple projects with specific
deadlines. Experience in event planning. Must be student-focused and
service-oriented. Composed under pressure with an ability to cope effectively
with change. Demonstrated skills in a PC environment using MS Word, Excel,
e-mail and Internet search engines. Ability in one or all of the following
languages Mohawk, Algonquin, MicMac or Cree. English, spoken and written.
French, spoken.
