On his first post, Ishaq wrote (among other things):
> exploitation of people in general; all that slavery shit. It's all a bit
> more important than where you're going to spend gay pride or how nobody
> understands your bisexuality
... at which point I asked him (this has come up in other forums where
"Ishaq" has posted before) to clarify his position regarding queer
liberation. Since, he did the same when others asked him this in the past--
he ignored the question, choosing I would assume the fastest route to
neither lying nor admitting his feelings/politics.
In his 2nd post, a reply to Shelly, Ishaq writes:
> i think that the natives could do some good by following the in the way
> of iran or as muqtada al sadr says;
... and also took a side swipe at "unbridled sexuality" (shudder!).
Ishaq: you are free to have your religion, in whatever way you wish, but
when you take that religion and start to make it politics and expect people
on any public list devoted to liberation and expect them to idly sit by
while you denounce gay pride, bisexuality, and promote governments that
torture women by law, claiming "God's will", you muddle the issue of
indigenous liberation and tar the lot of solidarity with "liberate one,
oppress others".
I do not know why you would expect anyone to accept your vision for
indigenous struggle to "follow in the path of Iran or Al-Sadr", yet at the
same claim that you must be listened to in your quest to resist much of the
white settler state. I can say with absolute certainty that resistance to
settler states is appropriate because they are settler states-- it matters
not if the settlers are Jewish, white, Muslim, purple Vietnamese midgets or
anything else. Again, what passes for white culture here is racist, but your
patriarchal gaze is no solution.
Can you clarify to us once and for all:
Do you shake hands with your female comrades, and will you defend the rights
of all identities?
Will you keep your understanding of God away from organizing on behalf of
others?
