"Canada in the World" Conference: Feb. 16 - 18

Organized by the McGill Institute for the Study of Canada, the conference 
"Canada in the World" will bring together policy-makers, international 
policy stakeholders, NGOs and business leaders to discuss questions such as: 
"Can Intervention work for Good?", "Can the World be Governed?", "Is 
geography Destiny?".
This conference, which is sponsored by Foreign Affairs Canada and the 
Department of National Defence, will include participants such as:
Paul Celluci - US Ambassador to Canada
Benoit Pelletier - Native Affairs Quebec
William Graham - Minister of National Defence
Pierre Pettigrew - Minister of Foreign Affairs

The Indigenous Peoples Solidarity Movement (IPSM) is calling out to all 
interested organizations, collectives and individuals for an organizing 
meeting this Sunday to prepare a response to this conference. We will not 
stand by and allow these bureaucrats to further consolidate their colonial 
interests in Iraq, Afghanistan, Haiti, and Turtle Island while they meet 
behind closed doors (by the way, registration for the conference is $175).

Organisee par l'Institut d'etudes canadiennes de McGill, la conference 
"Canada dans le monde" rassemblera les responsables des politiques 
internationales, les organisations non gouvernementales, et les chefs 
d'entreprise pour discuter le role du Canada dans le monde en addressant des 
questions comme: "Intervenir pour le bien, intervenir pour de bon?", 
"Peut-on échapper à sa géographie?", et "Est-il possible de gouverner le 
monde?".
Cette conference, qui est commanditee par Affaires etrangeres Canada et le 
Ministere de la Defense nationale, incluera la participation de, entre

The McGill Institute for the Study of Canada presents "CANADA IN
THE WORLD" February 16-18, 2005, in Montreal, Quebec.

As governments and citizens re-assess Canada's role in the world,  it seems 
appropriate and timely that Canadians should come
together to review their presence and action in the world. The
CANADA IN THE WORLD conference will provide a forum for you to
meet and engage with new international challenges and
opportunities. Join international policy stakeholders,
researchers, NGO representatives, business leaders and concerned
citizens on February 16-18, 2005 in Montréal, Québec, Canada to
share your thoughts.

Au moment où les gouvernements et les citoyens réexaminent le
rôle du Canada dans le monde, il semble tout à fait opportun que
les Canadiens et les Canadiennes se rassemblent pour repenser
leur présence et leurs actions sur la scène internationale. La
conférence « LE CANADA DANS LE MONDE » vous offre la possibilité
de faire des rencontres intéressantes et de discuter des nouveaux  défis 
internationaux. Joignez-vous aux intervenants en matière de  politique 
internationale, aux chercheurs, aux membres des
organisations non gouvernementales, aux chefs d'entreprise et aux  citoyens
