Shé:kon Everyone;
I hope that you've all had a great summer so far and that your vacation
times were restful.
I just wanted to let everyone know that First Peoples' House will be hosting
our 3rd Annual Pow Wow on September 16th from 10 a.m. till 6 p.m. on the
football field near the Roddick Gates. This year FPH is collaborating with
the Native Friendship Centre of Montreal so it promises to be an exciting
event this year.
Some of our performers include: Lydia Etok and Nina Segalowitz doing Inuit
throat singing, Keepers of the Eastern Door Dance troupe from Kahnawà:ke
will dance and do a demonstration of teaching Pow Wow dancing, Big Stone, an
Anishnabe drum group will be hosting our event and the Mohawk women singers
from Kanehsatà:ke will be singing Iroquois dance songs. There'll be more
dancers and singers as well to welcome everyone and share in the celebration
of Aboriginal cultures. But don't forget, there'll also be some Arts and
Crafts vendors as well as various Aboriginal organizations to give the
public a look at what kind of work is going on in our communities.
Everyone is welcome to attend and participate so please pass the word along.
You can also check out our web site for Pow Wow Protocol
