getting to kanehsatake?

it's a 60mins plus ride from the 2-mts train station to
kanehsatake. we
could mass there at 11am (hold a press scrum while we
mass) and journey
on.

those leaving from montreal could converge in laval at
cote vertu
metro (near decarie) and ride through or (and others)
could converage at
the canora train station on the blue atm (near jean
talon) and leave en
masse by train.

the bike path a kilometer away or so. we can also plan
CM on the road
(as the bike path probably meandors, does anyone know?).

details to be confirmed, but our arrival could be for
11am at 2-mts and
NOON in kanehsatake.

why is this happening?

Update from Kanehsatake - Wednesday, May 6, 2004 -
4:36pm

Dear friends --

We are writing after speaking with various members of
the local community
who continue to oppose any sort of police/military
intervention in
Kanehsatake.

An SQ and RCMP operation is expected soon (and the
Quebec Public Security
Minister has already announced that the SQ and RCMP
will help James
Gabriel's police patrol the Kanehsatake community
immediately, based in
nearby Oka for now).

Support is being requested by members of the
Kanehsatake community, in the
form of your presence here. We are asking solidarity
activists that come
to Kanehsatake to offer concrete support. Please bring
video cameras,
audio equipment, cell-phones and other communications
materials to help
witness and publicize the police intervention, and to
offer a measure of
support to local community members.

so why ride out on sunday?

something needs to happen to bring people to
kanehsatake and this is one
opportunity to bring much needed solidarity.
