film night of the QPIRG-McGill Film series:
INDIGENOUS SOLIDARITY FILM NIGHT

With short film presentations from various QPIRG indigenous solidarity
groups:
* "UAIL Go Back", documenting the struggle of tribal and low-caste
peoples of Kashipur, India, against a proposed mineral development
project backed by the Canadian corporation Alcan. Presented by the
Alcan't in India campaign.
* "Zapatista Women", including interviews with indigenous women soldiers
of the EZLN in Chiapas, Mexico, while providing an intro to the
situation of indigenous women in Mexico and the Zapatista movement.
Presented by Students Taking Action in Chiapas (STAC)
* "A Fight Against Time", a gripping account of the struggle of the
Lubicon Cree of Northern Alberta to survive in the face of ongoing
colonialism. Presented by the Indigenous Peoples Solidarity Movement
(IPSM)
* "An Evergreen Island", a film documenting the courage and persistence
of the people of the little-known Pacific island of Bougainville to
survive on their own through inventiveness, imagination and adaptability.
