This Friday March 12th QPIRG Concordia, a co-organizer
of the Cinema Politica series, is hosting a benefit
party.  The linup includes:

  The Kalmunity Vibe Collective - live organic improv
  Scott C - hip-hop/funk
  Radio Activa - Latin
  Jill Tanoja - accoustic
  The Jason Dagg Band - jazz-rock fusion

Doors open at 10pm @ Le Salon 4388 St-Laurent.  $5
cover.  Proceeds will go to:

<<-BOOKS TO PRISONERS->>
Books to Prisoners receives letters from inmates
(mostly in the US) and sends them literature ranging
from dictionaries and legal texts to black power and
revolutionary history/philosophy.

<<-QPIRG CONCORDIA LIBRARY->>
The library is open to the public and it houses a
collection of books, videos, magaines and CDs on a
wide range of issues including counterculture
(hip-hop, punk, drugs, etc.), history (what the
government and progressive political movements are up
to), health(sexuality, STDs, nutrition, etc.),
Do-It-Yourself and much more.  The library also
co-organizes Cinema Politica, a free film festival
open to the public that highlights educational and
socially conscious documentaries and features (on US
foreign policy, hip-hop and resistance, anti-war,
indigenous movements, etc.).

Ce vendredi le 12 mars, le GRIPQ Concordia,
co-organisateur des séries Politica Cinéma, vous
invite à une soirée bénéfice, avec des performances
incluant:

Les portes ouvriront à 22h au El Salon, 4388
St-Laurent.  Entrée 5$.  Les fonds levés iront à deux
projets:

<<-DES LIVRES POUR LES PRISONNIÉReS->>
"Des livres pour les prisonnièrEs" reçoivent des
lettres de prisonnièrEs (principalement des É.U.) et
leurs envoient de la littérature allant de
dictionnaires et textes légaux jusqu’à de l’histoire
et philosophie “black power” et révolutionaire.

<<-LA BIBLIOTHÈQUE DU GRIPQ-CONCORDIA->>
La bibliothèque du Groupe de Recherche d’intérêt
Public du Québec (GRIPQ) est ouverte au public et elle
contient une collection de livres, vidéos, magazines
et DCs portant sur une variété de questions incluant
la contre-culture (hip-hop, punk, drogues, etc.),
l’histoire (ce que le gouvernement et les mouvements
politiques progressifs font), la santé (sexualité,
mts, nutrition, etc.), des guides D.I.Y. (faire
soi-même) et beaucoup plus.  Le GRIPQ co-organise
aussi Cinéma Politica, un festival de films gratuit
présentant au public des documentaires et des longs
métrages éducationels avec une conscience sociale
(politiques extérieures des É.U., hip-hop et
résistance, anti-guerre, mouvements autochtones, etc.).
