[ISO] Fundraising and Raven People Rising Film – this Tuesday!

Hello friends,

We have two indigenous-solidarity announcements for you in this email.

1) Raising funds in support of Wet'suwet'en sovereignty

The Likhts’amisyu Clan, one of five clans of the Wet'suwet'en Nation,  is building a permanent camp two hours east of the Unist'ot'en camp in an effort to assert their precolonial rights and jurisdiction on their lands, which includes stopping pipelines slated to go through their lands.

2) Raven People Rising: Film Screening Fundraiser for the Heiltsuk Nation!

The Heiltsuk Nation is taking Kirby Corporation, an oil shipping company, and Canada to court over a catastrophic diesel oil spill in their territory, on the central coast of so-called British Columbia. - Fully accessible building, room and washrooms

- Everybody is welcome. Please do not wear scented products.

6:00PM: Community gathering and food generously offered by the Garden Spot (bring a tupperware & utensils if you can)
7:00PM: Screening of the short film “Raven People Rising”
7:30PM: Short update on the case and Q&A with Susan Smitten, the Executive Director of RAVEN (Respecting Aboriginal Values and Environmental Needs), the organization spearheading the fundraising efforts for the Heiltsuk Nation.
8:00PM: End of event
