This week, please come out to three important events in Ottawa/Algonquin
Territory!
On Tuesday, support Treaty 8 First Nations on the Ottawa stop of their
historic Justice for the Peace Caravan, in opposition to the Site C
mega-dam in BC.
On Wednesday, rally in solidarity with the Standing Rock Sioux First
Nation against the Dakota Access Pipeline.

1). *TUESDAY SEPT 13* AT 10:30 AM
RALLY ON PARLIAMENT HILL TO SUPPORT THE TREATY 8 JUSTICE FOR THE PEACE
CARAVAN
DETAILS: HTTPS://WWW.FACEBOOK.COM/EVENTS/2104095099815741/
Join the Treaty 8 Justice for the Peace Caravan in urging Prime Minister
Trudeau to keep his promises to respect the treaties, rebuild trust in
the environmental assessment system and implement the UN Declaration on
the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
On Sept. 12 in Montreal, a Federal Court is hearing an appeal from the
West Moberly and Prophet River First Nations (northeastern B.C) about
the $8.8 billion Site C mega-dam. They are demanding a stop to
construction of the dam on the Peace River, as it infringes their
constitutionally-protected rights. The Treaty 8 First Nations have been
journeying from Fort St. John BC to Montreal to raise support for their
struggle. They will be in Ottawa/Algonquin Territory on the day after
their Federal Court appeal is heard.
TWO RELATED EVENTS THAT DAY:
- A panel discussion/ webinar at 1pm, which will include West Moberly
First Nations Chief Roland Willson and legal experts. Watch online or
attend at Lamoureux Hall, LMX 243 (University of Ottawa). Details:

Show support to the Standing Rock Sioux First Nation in North Dakota who
are protecting the right to clean water. They are in opposition of a

the need for clean, fresh water is more important. Please join us for
songs, prayer and dance.
We would like to place a CALL OUT to drummers and dancers who would be
willing to come show their support in this crucial time. Please contact
us and pass the word along.

3). *THURSDAY SEPT. 15* AT 7 PM
JOIN THE FIGHT AGAINST WINDMILL/DREAM CORP’S PROPOSAL TO BUILD CONDOS ON
SACRED ALGONQUIN SITES IN OTTAWA!
STOP WINDMILL: STUDENT AND LABOUR ALLIES FOR AKIKODJIWAN (SW) is an
Ottawa-Gatineau campaign against Zibi, and a local manifestation of the
ongoing battle against Canadian colonialism.
The Trudeau government has the power to halt the Zibi project. They
simply have to reverse the Harper-era decision to transfer crown land on
Chaudière and Albert Islands to Windmill. (The Government of Canada owns
about 35% of the land on those two islands.) As of June 2016, ownership
of these parcels had not yet been transferred to Windmill. Without
those lands, Windmill and Dream are far less likely to proceed with
Zibi.
Learn more about SW's campaign on Thursday September 15, 2016 at 7 PM
(Laroche Room of the Hintonburg Community Centre at 1064 Wellington
Street).
